Well here's the rub, I get a dis payment in part if that farm

My disadvantaged land only yielded 4.5 ton wheat/acre when I had it in tillage 20 years ago.

He'll be a fine calf dried off. Stick up a few more pics tomorrow, and I'd like a good look at the cow too;)

Here ya go Bizzum. I am not able to get a better pic of the calf because he still cant stand up. He will try to stand when I lift him but he falls down as soon as he puts weight on his legs. I am still feeding him with the stomach tube he wont even suck the bottle for me now. I will give him till tomorrow evening and then I will call the vet. He seems happy enough besides though.

Keep lifting the calf and try a few times a day to limber out his legs, pay attention to the joints. It can be a vicious circle, the longer down they are the harder it can be to get them up and goin.
Ya can see the bit of Sim in the cow.

put him over a square bale and leave him on it for a while it will let the blood flow to his legs and bring his power to him

Find it fierce hard to get a calf to go back to sucking once you feed him more than 3 or 4 times with the stomach tube. Have had 1 or 2 calves with similar problems to yours in the past - will normally prop them on a square bale to get them to suck. Not much good to you now i know.

Might be worth talking to the vet. He might be able to give you something to administer yourself - might save the call out fee!

Hi robin. Great calf and its a pain about his legs but I had a similar problem a few months ago with a twin bull calf. I had to prop him up to suck and his front legs were a bit fcukd for a week or so. I used an old mortone drum cause there was more give to it and it was easier moved to balance him than a bale

Here he is now on the right so where there's life there's hope

Lovely bit of white in your heifer. Supposed to be a sign of milk. Nice looking animal

Good choice of soundtrack for a Mink! Though I'd prefer Tom Petty:)

My fingers were less than 12 inches from him at the end, that was close enough. Had to cut out a lot of good stuff, was too shaky with the camera phone, ye'd be sea sick :D

Nice thing to see , I wouldn't have been as brave getting in as close at the end in case he would have had my fingers !

Fine calf JDI. Looks like he is fairly tall. Is it a bull? Should be a good calf at the back end. The blue cross will bring a bit of muscle you would imagine.

I'd say he's average height. Photo makes cow look smaller than she is. He's a nice frame for putting on muscle alright. Photos too follow come the back end ;)
