Reddy for breathing as we are getting back into sucklers. It's like hens teeth at the moment trying to find good stock. Anyone have any cumming up for sale or know sumone that mite have a few? Any ideas, I don't really want to import as there should be good anof stock in Ireland. Thanks for your help.

I'd say anyone that breeds 3/4 simmental heifers would be keeping them for themselves rather than selling them on .
Would buying good limo heifers and putting a simmental bull on them be an option ? You would be a bit slower getting what you wanted but it would be easier put together a bunch of limos at the moment

That is a way of doing it allrit but I'd be a few years down the road before I'd be where I sorta want to start from if that makes sence. We ust to be able to get them no bother, allot of men ust to keep them and sell them every year as breeding heifers. I don't mind paying good cash for them. Is it just me or is there allot of very average stock for sale at the moment?

True, I also saw a lad after $3900 for a heifer with a calf at foot, granted she was top quality but not a cup of milk under her!

Ive 3 real nice limo off sim cows. they are ideal breeding heifers will be going out the middle of february if you want i'll send on a few pics. they are about 450kg. dec12 animals. Theres a sale coming up next week in elphin with 90 sim springers, would probably be a better option to get moving straight away.

Seams to be allot of stupid prices, all over the website, but anyone realistic is selling (well adds go).
Is the high prices due to hagglers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,580 ✭✭✭Mad4simmental

I'd say they get annoyed by allot of hagglers all-rite. I think it's just allot of chancers to be honist. Sum boys trying to flog of old cul cows that took 6 months to get back in calf for the price of good young stock. I do hope that there isn't that many stupid people out there buying this crap.

As she stands you would think she is worth $1600 at current prices. With a good calf at foot around $2000 or a shade over that. What you think?

The above three links are SMx but as previously stated lads want made money for SMx's, however what we use on our farm are the link below, we find them to be smashing mothers, plenty of milk, and will NEVER attack you. The good old Black Whitehead! Far cheaper to buy and I don't really know if there is that big a difference in the progeny.

Nice stock, we ust to have a good few of the oul black whit heads, personally I loved them, you could rub them down in the field and when they got ust to the farm you could nearly just open the gate and they would just walk down the road and into the next field. They knew exactly where they wer going ha.
