I saw the same rumour a couple of days ago saying that Celtic were about to throw in a bid so I'm sceptical about it
Much better bringing the lad in now Dempsey, get him bedded in before the CL starts.
A top class striker should be next on the list.

Read somewhere that Lennon, after this evenings match, confirmed a bid had been made

Following this lad on twitter for the past year on twitter, he's been on the money about alot of things that have transpired. Was sceptical when I saw nothing anywhere for a few days on this one but another feather in his cap for credibility.

Hamilton Accies are hoping to sign 18-year-old Celtic midfielder Paul George on loan until the summer.

Celtic need to make deals like this happen

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-striker-georgios-samaras-close-3006775
GEORGIOS Samaras last night moved closer to the Celtic exit door with Atletico Madrid and Trabzonspor battling for his signature.

Atletico have been in negotiations with Samaras and his representatives for several weeks and are close to finalising a package.

But Record Sport can reveal Trabzonspor have also made contact with the Greek’s camp in the past 48 hours to sound him out over a move to Turkey. They are willing to offer a two-year contract worth around £1.7million after tax per season.

And as they push for a top-three finish in the Turkish top flight they want the Greece frontman now and are willing to pay Celtic around £750,000.

The player’s preference is a move to Spain but he will consider the Trabzonspor offer as he gets set to end his six-year stay with the Hoops after recently rejecting a new deal.

I suspect the Record are speculating on the bolded. Atletico Madrid have been linked with him for a long time but I cant see him playing regularly for them. I dont think he'd be interested in Trabzonspor tbh

Suppose to be looking at Kingsley of Falkirk now, we are being linked to alot of full backs recently

Was a wee bit surprised at that tbh,odd when you think of the AV scouting system, you'd think they'd be quite good.

BTW,I had a wee chuckle ( pardon the pun) when I saw the valuation of RFC this afternoon,I kid you not,£18.88 million.:D
    Karma can be so cruel,eh!!!

Trabzonspor and Austria striker Marc Janko tells Celtic he would walk from Turkey to Glasgow to sign for them. (Various)

A 1 goal in 2 games a striker for FC Twente but flogged by Porto after half a season. Probably alot to do with one Jackson Martinez soaking up all the gametime. We've a long standing interest in him, I wonder what his price is now.

Celtic striker Mo Bangura is not interested in a loan move to Henrik Larsson's Falkenberg side in Sweden. (Daily Record)

Why would he be? A player good enough for Swedish Champions dropping down to a newly promoted side without much financial reward isnt going to happen.

Captain Scott Brown says it took him three years to settle in at Celtic so he is not surprised that Amido Balde and Teemu Pukki have failed to make an immediate impact. (Various)

Both have shown glimpses of what they are capable of, they just need more gametime to help them settle. Hopefully it wont take them 3 years!

Manager Neil Lennon insists there is no rift between himself and the Celtic board over funds to sign a new goalscorer. (Various)

Why does he need to come out and quash that rumour?

    EDIT

    http://www.celticfc.net/newsstory?item=5224
EFE Ambrose has revealed that he will be airing a new goal celebration when he finds the net in 2014.

The Nigerian has marked all of his strikes for the Hoops with a spectacular series of somersaults which would be more at home in a gymnastics competition.

It’s been a memorable sight for the past 18 months but the defender is planning something fresh for the New Year.

“I will have something new for the fans as it’s a new year – it will be something even better!” he revealed to the Celtic View.

Ambrose was on target in the last meeting with Motherwell, who will provide Celtic’s next opponents in the Scottish Premiership.

But the stopper is only focused on overcoming the in-form Steelmen, who have stormed up the table after a spate of striking results.

“It will be a big enough challenge to defeat Motherwell,” he said. “They have won five games in a row so they have stepped up their game and scoring goals. It will be a different game, but we will be prepared for the challenge, and we are not like the other teams – we are Celtic.”

My money is on someone wheeling out a Pommel Horse & he does a qualifier event for the Commonwealth Games

Maloney's treatment table has been gathering dust for a while, he could use that. :)

They'll not have that. They'll drop the shares lower to bring it down to £16.90m. :pac:

Celtic team to play Galatasaray: Zaluska; Herron, O'Connell, Fraser, Fisher; Forrest, Biton, Henderson, Boerrigter; Pukki, Balde (MH)

Subs: Fasan, Atajic, Chalmers, Breslin, McLaren, Caird, Miller (MH)

Galatasaray named a reserve team also

    EDIT

Spoilers used for anyone thats recording it! :D
Pukki with a nice composed finish into the bottom corner but judged offside
Alot of Fireworks going off in the stands now!
HT, Zaluska looks very sharp in goal. Galatasaray beginning to realise that their shots need to be spectacular to beat him. Fairly pedestrian game, both teams creating chances but not taking them. Nobody really changing Lennon's opinion of them for the better. Boerrigter really needs to up his game though, he's proving Frank de Boer correct with each passing minute he plays for Celtic. Hope to see the team up the tempo and improve their passing in the 2nd half.
Sneijder & Felipe Melo and actually alot of other big guns coming on at HT. Practically changed their entire team at HT

Just tuning in there now. Forrest is Captain. Very young team out doing well obviously

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

They've really held their own in the 2nd half when Galatasaray sent out the 1st team. Nir Biton was even shooting from inside his own half too (keeper was scrambling & landed on top of the net)

    EDIT

That should be a red card

    Good stuff from Balde there

No matter what happens next, Zaluska is MOTM tbh

Even applauded by the Gala keeper!

All good penalties bar Forrests. Dont think he'll be taking a competitive one for a while!

Celtic reserves showed that Lennon should put more faith in them when it comes to first team football

    Samaras to Athletico Madrid, wtf?!

Great effort and great experience for all the Celtic young guns out there today. I think but am not sure that Calvin Miller who just turned 16 became Celtic youngest ever first team player.

I read earlier that he's a great prospect, anyone got more info on him?

Fella on Twitter sent Britney this email today, hopefully the arselicker Mark Guidi reads it too.

@GrahamSpiers Graham, you use the word 'tedious' to describe the 'Rangers' situation. In a way I understand where you are coming from but until this situation is resolved, it will never go away.

    Let's call a spade a spade.

When the CVA failed, Rangers were heading for liquidation. Whether I liked that, didn't like that, wanted it to happen or didn't want it to happen - it matters not - it did happen.

It's important to recognise that it happened because a lot of people are still owed money from the club and it will never get paid.

Before the CVA failed, Charles Green made it clear what would happen if the CVA failed:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k0IkDTPQWU

    Not once, but twice

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEkbSD56hlY

All over the country there were headlines describing the event as it happened.

    http://i.imgur.com/TnkDMSE.jpg

Walter Smith acknowledged it, as did Mark Hateley & Richard Gough.

What has happened since has been the scam of the century - and possibly even last century as well.

Sevco were awarded conditional membership of the SFA and after changing their name to The Rangers FC were, for a while, acknowledged and regarded as a new club that were founded in 2012

    http://i.imgur.com/B1OGaXU.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/wLd4nxQ.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/3mRh43q.jpg

Then .... well, what happened? Again, what happened?

We have just been told to accept something else - to rewrite history. Sorry, but no.

We know that the SFA, the lovely bunch of honest people that they are, cannot say publicly that the Rangers of today are the same Rangers pre-liquidation. However they have communicated with organisations such as ECA to perpetuate the myth that the club is still the same.

When ASA contacted the SFA to make an enquiry, they were told that the definition of a club can have various contexts. Of course they never actually clarified what context Rangers fell into - they just want to use that line to make ASA go away.

The SFA know the legal implications of liquidation. Rangers, the club that was founded in 1872, the same club that won 54 league titles (some of them questionably - that's another story) is no longer with us.

They have dodged every question from day one about new Rangers, instead they are happy to allow ECA / ASA etc to put out statements on their behalf to keep the illusion going that Rangers never went bust at all.

If this happened in any other sport, the media would be all over the governing body for an explanation. You'd be asking how a club that owes so much to so many can appear again debt free. You would, wouldn't you?

In short - the SFA are either cowards or liars. Maybe even both. They cannot explain this situation and it's about time they did because a fellow journalist of yours almost handed in his resignation for the abuse he received for daring to say "old club".

Yes, the same journalist was threatened as well. This is the fascist tactics at work. It's happening here and now.

We now live in a society where parts of the media have just ignored the very headlines they printed in 2012 to keep alive something that isn't true.

Our national sport is now bound by lies, myths and scams where everything that is beautiful about the game is cast aside in order to protect one entity.

276 creditors are still owed money, the SFA live in a murky world of silence, journalists are threatened - yet the mighty Glasgow Rangers are here today, the world champions at everything from football to tiddliwinks because what I have learned from all of this - everything can go to hell - but the establishment must be protected.

My club had to pay every penny of debt back. So did Hearts. Do did Dunfermline.

You know, I know - everyone knows - that the protection of Rangers is the ultimate kick in the teeth to everything good about the game.

    And you say it's 'tedious'.

Sorry Graham, it's more that that.
