Less pay on payslip 9 Jan 14?

Hi,

I checked my bank account just now, to my horror, my pay has gone down by 55euro?
I am a fixed term teacher, so my hours are the same every week, why on earth has my pay gone down? I am on the new payscale, so my pay isn't great as it is, so to see that I am down E55 euro is so disheartening.

I will ring the department tomorrow, but I want to know, has this happened anyone else?

My pay was up by a couple of euro, there's a thread on education posts, last week was primary pay day and there were huge discrepancies in pay.

Mine too.After ringing the dept,I was told that the system did not recognize the new tax credit certs for some teachers and that the pay was taxed as emergency tax.
Also the pension % is now different for rpt's.She indicated that as far as she knew, this was the reason.

As I understand it the pension % will be different from now on yes.As was explained by dept, its now 3% as opposed to 1.5%. Jaysus its a joke at this stage, don't mind paying the pension but Im not really sure how long more I will stay at the teaching,so I would prefer to get the few extra quid now.

Were we ever informed of pension input changes?Is it essentially a 1.5% pay cut? I try to keep up with all of the circulars and changes but might have forgotton or missed one.

As she explained it, it only applies to rpt teachers on less than 22.Im not so sure that she was 100% on the facts to be honest.She said that she would try and get someone else in the dept to ring me back in the morning with full confirmation, so ill wait until then to see what the full story is.I cannot say anything more other than what i was told.I'm hoping she was wrong though:(.

Was it a ' Budget 'adjustment ?Sure hey the austerity is really gonna grind on for teachers anyway for at least the next 4-6 years .The water charges havent even kicked in yet and they will only go up along with all the (many many)old reliables...Inevitably when the private sector are booming again we'll be thrown a few crumbs just before the next crash -rinse and repeat ...

Seems strange that RPT on less than 22 hours get hit. My pay went up by about 43 euro. Won't see the payslip until the weekend though.

As a former ASTI member [announced by email I was leaving on 20 December]:

- No increment increase on my pay slip meaning I'm underpaid by about 80 euro gross.

- A slight reduction of 4.81 to pay in the pension levy [pension related deduction]. This is presumably due to the rate cut from 5% to 2.5% in Haddington Road. This means an increase in PAYE and a total net earning of 2.84 per fortnight as a result of the reduction in the pension levy. . . Hawaii here I come. :rolleyes:

So it seems they applied Haddington Road regarding the pension related deduction but NOT regarding the increment increase.

Still paying the ASTI.

I intend billing them . . .They've no entitlement to that money.

When I left a few years ago the did refund me by way of a check,not too sure how they go about it nowadays.However I would like to see this thread stay on track i.e:less pay today and reasons for it.

PRD would be Pension Related Deduction I would assume.

One of my friend's told me they were down and had paid more in PRD they are permanent not rpt. I rang dept over my own wages and they said something about new tax credits certificates were issued and tax credits reduced by around €1000. This might just be the case for me as I am on maternity leave, but my wages are all over the place. They really don't have a clue and I have rang them 5 times!

My pay is still down today (about 65 euro). I was hoping it was just a mistake last time but now I'm thinking it mightn't be.

Mine is up again this month. Was less than 2 euro last month per payment. This pay cheque was up a further €37. No idea why won't see the pay slip till later

Pay is down €80 this week, I have a tight budget and I'm pretty worried if this is going to be a usual thing. On my third temporary contract with the same school, no reason for a different amount, not happy.

Mine was up €4 the last time and is down €20 today. I'm on 22 hours so it shouldn't really be changing.

With part of the pension levy reduced from 5% to 2.5% . . . This would mean that teachers would be liable to pay a greater proportion of their income on PAYE/USC/PRSI - which is effectively a 52% rate over 32,800 euros.

Oh dear. That sounds final! I was still hoping it was a mistake. i'm jobshare so it makes sense

ASTI still screwing me after departure(over a month later) -at equivalent rate of over 25 euro a month .I will be forcefully looking for what Im owed to be repaid .Why am I not surprised?

Same here, am up 2 euro again this time but no pay slip and it always arrives on time too !!
