Make a phone call to the FBI warning that there'll be an attack. Be really specific to give it the best chance of being taken seriously.

Not much you can do after that then except to put all your money in Google and houses and remember to sell the latter in 2006 and the former in 2012.

Probably phone in a bomb threat on the towers. Say I have left a bomb on the 80-90th floors of both towers. I imagine the Pentagon would be harder to convince. Id try a bomb scare there too but I doubt they would give me too much notice.

If it was possible to avoid capture/stay anonymous I'd call in bomb threats to Logan, Newark and Dulles airports and to the WTC and Pentagon. As a second step I'd try to make the FBI aware of Messers Atta et al

I'd demonstrate my time machine to the FBI/CIA to prove I'm not crazy, and explain what was about to happen. But then I realise I forgot what the flight numbers for each plane was, and it would probably still happen.

I should really memorise those flight numbers huh...
