You're not taking what I'm saying with the intent and you know that!!
Hitler, was an elected man you need to remember!
If it wasn't for Hitler, there is a very real chance I wouldn't be alive today. That's a fact. He achieved great things for medical science. This is a bloody fact that people try not to accept. It's factual!

Also, I was the OP, I'm defending women here remember. Protecting them if you will!

Whereas Thatcher seized power in a brutal military coup and slaughtered all her opponents?

As for your Belgrano comment. Similar would probably cover most leaders of countries during wars. Presumably Obama is evil? Churchill? Washington? Kennedy? Roosevelt?

Have heard conservative anti-abortionists say that Nelson Mandela was pure evil because he allowed legislation in South Africa that legalised abortion on demand. Evil, evil Nelson, baby killer. Hrm.

You hear about women in power getting grief because they moan and whinge about it. You don't hear about men in power getting grief because they get on with shit, and if you do hear about it, the response is "So? He's a bastard."

And that's my sexist comment for the day.

Why do we always have to talk about Hitler and natzis all the time. :(
I am not saying Hitler was anything but Evil so why keep bringing him up!
It doesn't matter who was more evil, Thatcher or Hitler, but the point is that they were both bad people who were responsible for the death of many people.
Thatcher was an evil bitch and lets leave it at that.

I used to have a fromspring account and got awful abuse on there.

Are you actually a lady, Ted? I won't judge you any differently if you are...

A young Adolf took a bullet for Urgrossvater Tedsohn at the Somme? :pac:

When you make completely asinine assertions with only a very casual acquaintanceship with the facts, you can expect comments.

I'd tell you to build a bridge Ted, but you're probably living under one already.

Either way, this thread was a piss poor attempt from the start.

So you're calling me a troll now are you?
I've tried to move away from this Hitler nonsense from the beginning!
People have been trying to pick holes in my posts throughout this thread while changing what I've actually said.
I have called both Hitler and Thatcher Evil. Now what is the problem with that for the love of god!?

Hitler may not have been able to twirl his moustache, but at least it showed up in photos. Maggie is clearly in the ha'penny place there.

I wish people wouldn't have twisted my words so much there. I've been made to look like some sort of Hitler supporter when that couldn't be any further from the truth.
I've got Jewish people I'd be friendly with. They're not friends so there's no point in me calling them that but they seem nice enough.
I don't like anyone to be killed. I don't even think rapists should face the death penalty. Let them think about what they've done for the rest of their lives and suffer in hell! I know more than most about how dangerous your own mind can be to you. It can be mentally disabling.
My old maths teacher often used to say to me that he wasn't sure if I was a genius or an idiot because I'd often get lost in my head. For example I'd often start a sentence and not even be aware that I've suddenly stopped talking.
My friends find it hilarious when I do it however:P.
Hmmm, even no I don't fully know what my point was here or how we ended up on this....

Your point was you love Hitler, but hate Thatcher because she's a woman.

No it's not because she's a woman it's about her actions. She was a horrible evil person in my book and she should never have been in that position of power.
Blowing up those poor people on the boat. Human life meant nothing to that witch!

Eh, Thatcher was elected...Hitler was appointed chancellor by Hinderburg and used the apparent communist attack on the Reichstag to gain power.

As for the rest, the contribution of the Nazis to medical science is considered exaggerated and it has to be considered that any gains garnered by murder and torture have the result of sending civilisation into reverse, not forwards.

An insight into the human bodies response to hypothermia (for example) must be considered against the backdrop of freezing human beings to death to gain it. It's a net no-no of a result.

    These are not 'great things'.

As a macabre and depressing aside a lot of the Nazi experiments were actually pretty useless science.

The Japanese however at places like Unit 731 carried out just as horrifying stuff but they produced useful data, and so a lot of those involved including the leaders got away with it.

I suppose the moral of the story is if your going to be utterly amoral at least produce results.

I think that women have a tough time of it with regards to the workplace because if they act quite feminine they 'may' be considered too weak for high powered jobs and if they act very strict they are called 'bitchy'. Women can have it tough from that point of view. I think that Thatcher and Merkel fall into this problem - they kind of can't show too much affection when they're representing their countries alongside the likes of Putin et al.

Two women managers I worked under took that whole 'strict' approach to the nth degree. It felt forced and alienated a large section of the business team at a time when the company was trying to encourage cohesiveness. There was a lady manager who I worked under in the same company and she was the epitome of a great manager. Tough and strict and a great business mind but up for banter too and a great people person.

I was recently talking to a very enlightened feminist who was telling me that she DETESTED the idea of quotas for women on the boards of companies as it further weakened women's position as if they got a job on a board they would be seen as serving a quota instead of getting there by merit. We agreed that anyone, male or female should get any position they qualify for on merit.

While I understand your argument OP that tough women get judged more harshly than men. I think you kind of undermine yourself by introducing Mrs Thatcher into the equation then referring to her as 'it' and 'pure evil'.

Reading some stuff about Thatcher earlier and some of the comments are so harsh towards it.
You don't think Thatcher was evil
    She's a bitch dude
    Uh-huh...

I hope Teddy has gotten lots of sleep, and doesn't continue to dig the double T hole...

On some issues, yes, on some issues, no. They want equality for all jobs, yet the average woman can't equally work in all jobs. Men are treated unfairly by the family courts, and do not get equal time off after the baby is born.

Surely Godwin's Law is about spuriously comparing people to Hitler. The poster was doing the exact opposite.

Why do Women with power get such a hard time? Reading some stuff about Thatcher earlier and some of the comments are so harsh towards it.

I mean I know she was pure evil in it's purest form and she is burning in hell right now but Angela seems to get the same treatment.

    Okay....

Thatcher was a fantastic leader of the UK. The Irish may not like her for their own reasons, but then she was a leader of her country, not ours. Right on Maggie! Every leader makes mistakes but the balance of her reign turned the UK from a flailing indebted economy, bailed out by the IMF into a lean workhorse built for massive growth. Fair play to the women.

That may all be true if you live in South East England, she fcuked the rest of the country. Scotland, NI, Wales, Northern England all suffered under her.
Also all her positives achievements never needed to be put forward in such a divisive way.
