    Twenty years ago..mad.

It was a kind of a water-shed era/year I think as Ireland changed utterly into the country it is today. It was around then the economy took off, the internet was just about on the horizon, mobile phones were beginning to appear.

As I say I was living in England at the time, but apparantly Riverdance was at number 1 in Ireland for 18 weeks that year??

Friends started in 1994 (20 years ago) and ended in 2004 (10 years ago). I'm now the age that the main characters were when it started so an on-again-off-again relationship with Jennifer Aniston should be starting anytime now.

Word of advice. Don't have 'a break'.

It was the year I got my tonsils out. I was ten and spent a week in hospital. I remember crying cause I was by myself in a weird place. And probably scared I'd be killed.

I got my tonsils out in 94 as well. I was nine, but I loved all the attention (and the icecream).

    Fun fact

The year that that 70s show came out compared to the year it was set if applied to the current day would be called That 90's show and be set in 1992

Wait. They had fourth officials in 94?

I am old. Wasn't that introduced like five years ago?

Yep, you're perhaps thinking of the fifth official, better known as the behind the goal guys that do nothing?

Was that the year that Maradona stuck his face in the camera like a rabid dog (he was off his head on Coke). 'twas hardly 1998 was it?.

For all the cool memories of World Cup 1994, the one that stands out for me is the poor Columbian player Andres Escobar being gunned down after his Own Goal in a match with USA condemned his side to elimination. Columbia were proper dark horses to do well at the tournament and a lot of the shady characters from the Cartel had huge sums of money on them to progress. They killed him in cold blood. I was only 8 and remember it in the news

pretty sure I saw Foo Fighters in SFX that year (or maybe it was'95) ...either way i'm ancient

World Cup USA 1994 obviously... Aldridge going mad with the officials, Steve Staunton melting under the Orlando sun, beating Italy in the Giants stadium... and then we kinda went out with a whimper and we threw a rather embarrassing homecoming party for the boys in the Phoenix park. I distinctly remember watching it on TV - Boyzone were jumping around in orange jumpsuits to a mostly dis-interested crowd in the Phoenix park!

That Wet Wet Wet song (from 4 weddings) was never off the radio as was Riverdance.

Closer to home I remember getting my first summer job that year (£2.50 an hour slavery in Supermacs ha ha). Actually I remember hearing about Senna's fatal accident on my first day in that job.

My interest in the ladies definitely started to heighten that year, I remember that clearly ;)

Life is like a box of chocolates... wasn't that 1994?

I was in the UK a year at that stage, supposedly for only 5 years, and didn't get home until 2001 :(

1994. Also Roger Milla's swan song from Cameroon. He was the ripe old age of 42 when he scored at the finals, the oldest player to hold the record.
