Following the new year, 1994 is officially now 20 years old. People born in 1994 will be entering their 20s this year. What are your memories if you have any of it?

I was only 8, and it was kind of a breakthrough year for me in terms of maturity. It was the year I became old enough to first start following news events, music (first watching totp) and sport. However I don't remember either of the deaths of Kurt Cobain or Ayrton Senna.

I was born in England and still living there at the time, so obviously some of my memories will be a bit different to yours, and thus I can't relate to growth of celtic tiger Ireland for example, but I do remember the world cup that year and obviously following Ireland. The house erupting and us going crazy when Ray Houghton scored. :pac:

I think that was the year of Riverdance wasn't it? My mum bought it on tape and played it endlessley.

What are your memories, if you have any, from 1994?

It was the year I got my tonsils out. I was ten and spent a week in hospital. I remember crying cause I was by myself in a weird place. And probably scared I'd be killed.

My first taste of a goodfellas pizza, the 'Cheese Supreme'.
We were watching Ireland play Mexico I think, and my mates Ma brought it out to us.
Never had anything like it before... can still taste it now...

My abiding memory is of Steve Staunton melting into a puddle on the pitch at the World Cup. That Orlando heat was a killer for us fair skinned Paddies in fairness.

Friends started in 1994 (20 years ago) and ended in 2004 (10 years ago). I'm now the age that the main characters were when it started so an on-again-off-again relationship with Jennifer Aniston should be starting anytime now.

    Mmmm, youth.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    1994, hey?

I remember Sky One coming back after being off the air for a year or so. Was something to do with then Cablelink and a dispute (seriously what was the deal?)

Gone was Dj Kat and there was a whole new roster in WWE WWF. But also remember watching the Survivor Series live that same year. :p

I was the same age as the main characters were when it started, we went through a lot of it with them. The end was a wrench, really made me feel if not old that youth was behind me. Eveyone was having babies, buying houses, getting married in no particular order when friends ended, it bookended that part of our lives.

    Twenty years ago..mad.

It was a kind of a water-shed era/year I think as Ireland changed utterly into the country it is today. It was around then the economy took off, the internet was just about on the horizon, mobile phones were beginning to appear.

As I say I was living in England at the time, but apparantly Riverdance was at number 1 in Ireland for 18 weeks that year??

I got my tonsils out in 94 as well. I was nine, but I loved all the attention (and the icecream).

    Fun fact

The year that that 70s show came out compared to the year it was set if applied to the current day would be called That 90's show and be set in 1992

Yep, you're perhaps thinking of the fifth official, better known as the behind the goal guys that do nothing?
