Opel Ampera available in Ireland?

    I had a look at some of the car threads here talking about EREV. When I go checking dealers they don't have any details on them.

    So is the Ampera available here?
    Or do they all get bought in the UK and rereged here?

    It was mentioned on opel.ie last year

    But simi figures don't show any vauxhall or opel amperas being reg'd in Ireland

    Wasn't it going to be around €50,000 though?

    They're £33,750 in the UK anyway.

    Just thought it was odd they don't have it listed anywhere. I checked my local dealer and they had no idea what I was talking about.

    Are any EREVs available here at all?

    Toyota Ireland were making noise a few years back about the Prius plug-in, they sell it in the uk, but it's not on toyota.ie

    Worth noting that the range is only 18km on the plug in. (Still handy for commuting)

    Keep in mind that normal Priuss start at £22000 over there, and a plug in is £32000 before gov incentives (£4000 which you likely won't get)

    I was passed by an Irish regd 132 plate two weeks ago in Dublin so they are out there.

    Just curious that there is a lot of press coverage on these things but dealers never know about them.

    I have seen the Ampera and the Volt mentioned but not a sign of them on the road.

    Never knew it was that low, really not worth having, there's a difference of £6500 from the non plug in version. Would be far more economical and good for the environment to buy yourself a decent bike to do these 9k journeys.

    I spotted a Prius taxi in Dublin over Christmas with advertisements on it for a plug in conversion. It was converted too.

    Far as I know the Prius plug in has different batteries to the standard Prius.
    I'd be wary of doing such a conversion on a new car.

    I'll keep an eye out for it again. It was parked at Stephens Green and had a web address plastered all over it along with some stats.

    Was doing some research on changing the ole chariot for something a little more eco friendly.
    Lots of models don't seem to be available here.
    Very annoying.

    I might if I got a good deal on a trade in and reasonable finance. Especially if I could talk the boss into a few shillings for using the car for work.

    The price is a bit huge I admit. Maybe it will come down when it gets cheaper to assemble.

    If you want to be eco friendly keep the old one, that way they will not have to dig up tons of iron ore to make the metal, they will not have to use tons of oil to make the plastic and they will not have to use tons of energy making a car.

    Even if they gave you €5000 off, its still €45000

    2012 One available in NI for £21k.

    It's a petrol car too. Unlike, say, a leaf which doesn't use petrol.
