    Escort missions

I was going to add this alright but for me it's mostly when your character runs faster or walks slower than the thing/person you're escorting.

Oeilivert in FF9, seriously **** that town.

Isn't that the abandoned city in the desert canyon?

Absolutely hated that bit. The monsters in it were bloody annoying as well and if I remember correctly you had to split your party before that which screwed me the first time since all my weaker party members went there

The last few missions in Red Dead Redemption very underwhelming

<pedant> that was actually #1, and definitely agree, that goat had me utterly stumped. There are some things from old-school RPGs I don't miss :-/</pedant>

    Oh god!

Anything where you need to chase someone on a bike. I hate them all

That mission wasn't too bad, unless you played it on PC where the Helicopter controls were absolute ballox.

Oh man, first the ones where you're chasing the vans with the RC planes, then the one where you're trying to shoot them down with a gatling gun. Whether you completed those missions was more to do with blind luck than skill. Fffffuuuuuuu....

Metal Gear Solid. Tracking all the way back to get the key to change.

Exactly, I passed them but just retrying over and over. Thankfully the annoying missions in GTAV were a minority, it took me ages to nail that dirtbike jump onto the train though.

I never had trouble with the spinners.

The unskippable intro though drove me insane.

Remote control helicopter mission in GTA Vice City
Any under-water section in video games: sonic, tomb raider, zelda, World of Warcraft and countless other games... Under water sections are always the most frustrating part of any games, do game designers realise that these sections are not fun in any way!

Final Boss in Gears of War
    escort missions (hate them)
any game where you have to press a sequence of buttons at the right time or you die scenarios

Any time the flood show up in a Halo game, Halo 3 in particular where the penultimate level is quite possibly the worst designed FPS level ever made.

That was another one I gave up on. Felt so cheated. Was enjoying it a lot up to that point, and its not like it wasn't already a short single player campaign.

Similar thing happened in the underrated Escape from Butcher Bay: mainly a stealth game but then they throw in a section with flood-like enemies, which highlighted how crap the gunplay was.

I think it's the fear of wrecking the screen that makes me wince when thinking of the spin sections.

I totally agree with escort missions, I can barely look after myself never mind some stupid AI character.
Surprised no one has said Battletoads yet.

The hoverbikes don't ruin those games for me - they just lock me out of everything that comes after. They could have stopped making levels after that and without the internet I'd never have known

Speaking of ridiculous escort missions anyone remember the mission in scarface where you have to protect a restaurant owner who unfortunately had suicidal AI which led to him running into enemy fire. That made me give up on that game.

That asteroid bit in Dead Space, the Boss Fights in Deus Ex: HR even if they were already mentioned need to get mentioned again.

THIS!!! and the Rhythm-based Minigames in GTA San Andreas (and any other game for that reason)

Driving missions in GTA games also annoyed me (in other words I was pretty crap at them lol)
