as someone who has been in a similar situation, I would just freeze.

Seriously, I froze, I barely blinked, could not think at all.
He was getting worked up, screaming for my bag, pulled at once, I think. and I'm just holding it, staring, blankly.

In the end, he stomped off, with a few obscene swears back.
And I carried on my way. (after thinking, w'da fuq just happened?)

Be as big as you like, if someone kicks your knee 6" sideways, you tend to lose interest in what you were doing and focus your attention on the fact your knee doesn't work anymore. You can then run like the clappers. They will probably have other concerns than pursuit. Or you can spend ages studying krav maga. Either or.

This is after hours so I'm not sure if you're actually being serious or you're just posting Walter Mitty type stuff. But if you are telling the truth, then those people were absolutely clueless, which is why you're alive. I don't care if you're King Kong, if someone has a knife and they know how to use it, you'll be carved up like a Christmas turkey. Your last paragraph is utter rubbish. It's just as well most people are intelligent enough to realise that.

Whatever floats your goat. You've probably had waay more experience of drunken, sneaky scumbags with stanleys than I have. My scarred and battered body probably says different, but there you go. Also the carved up like a turkey bit? I wouldn't bet your last Euro on that.

I just think it's irresponsible to write that. No one with any credibility supports it. Fighting back is only advisable if you absolutely have no other option and are cornered. MMA and other types of full contact arts are great for hand to hand combat but facing someone with a knife is a whole different thing. It sounds like you came up against a few eejits who only wanted to cause superficial harm. But if we're talking about serious knives with someone who is a nasty piece of work you will be carved up.

There are other videos on youtube showing what some knives are capable of. One guy tore up an entire phone book and put the point of the knife right through a coin. Some of the smaller knives are probably more lethal because you can quickly stab someone multiple times in quick succession. It's no joke.

It all depends,

Am i alone or do i have someone with me (gf for example)

If i'm on my own and able to I'd run, if my gf is with me i'd tell her to run while I attempt to stall him (she's tiny so can't run very fast) and by stall i don't mean a fist fight, I'd try anything, something like the confusion tactic Derren Brown mentions

what weapon is available to me? if its a plank of wood or broom handle then i have the reach bonus and he won't get near me. (with a weapon like this or similer never swing like you would imagine hitting a baseball, thrust like a spear) I'd probably back away at this stage though still until i either got away or he made a mistake

just reading about it on wiki, thats actually pretty cool! I can't see the video at work however but would i be right in saying it was a very very very early prototype of an uzi?

Yea they were very cool alright D. My fave handgun ever. Real steampunk vibe. Not an UZI type weapon, it was one of the first successful automatic pistols. First produced in 1896. Widely used by military types as a privately sourced pistol. Winston Churchill swore by his one. Very hard hitting and it was many a year before their stopping power was matched. They came with detachable stocks(that also doubled as a holster) for more accuracy, later there was a fully automatic one. Real room clearer but very hard to control and fires too quickly(17 rounds a second). Beautifully engineered. Only one screw in the whole thing and that holds on the hand grips. The rest goes together like a Chinese puzzle. This made them very expensive.

I've been lucky to fire one on two occasions. Now I'm crap with a pistol, but with one of those yokes I was getting respectable groups downrange. Seemed to suit me for some reason. They go for big money these days.

The eagle eyed among us geeks will have noticed it's the basis for Han Solo's blaster in Star Wars(I think Luke has one too). They slapped a telescopic sight and a fake muzzle extension. Instant spacegun(the original Judge Dredd Lawgiver was based on it too). Not bad for a 19th century bit of kit and defo a very bad day for a would be stab monkey looking down it's barrel.

Pretend you're having a heart attack , odds are he'll **** himself and leg it or ask you are u okay lol , drop to the deck holding your chest ,the minute his guard is down your fingers enter his eye sockets at full force....from t here onwards it's up to u how evil you want to get xx

I suggest you should be extremely violent -_-
