My ex just turned 34 and I'm 22. The distance is what ended it for us, she's American. It is just a number.

You need to have a firm rule when it comes to dating older women.
If she's firm enough, you can shag her.

My missus is 6 years older then me . I've always hung around with people who were older then me . I actually don't have much time for people my own age and certainly had no time for going out with women younger then me , having to deal with all their juvenile nonsense . Couldn't be happier :-)

Actually at 15 it's a bit pointless. Half your age is 7.5 meaning that the youngest person you could go out with would be 14.5. A bit of common sense here please.

It's only really in adulthood when this rule comes into play. Like, if someone who is 30 started mounting people who are 21 I would be on to the authorities/village elders, as 22 is half their age plus 7.

If said 21 year old was to turn 22 BEFORE said 30 year old turned 31, then it is acceptable though.

The authorities wouldn't be long telling you where to go.

My first sexual relationship was at seventeen with a thirty year old. She was a nut case, but I was young and stupid. Now I am older and also still pretty stupid. I've never gone out with someone younger than I am, the closest I got was two or three years older.

Also, age is hardly "Just a number." I can't see that going down well as a defence in court. "Sure, judge, what is age, like? Just a number, ain't it, yeah? Series of yearly ascending digits!"

If anything its more acceptable if the woman is older. Couger is a damn site better than Dirty Old Pervert.
Yes and kinda no. I've noticed that age gaps are a lot more socially acceptable today than when I was 20, back in the 80's. One of the guys in my social circle was seeing a woman of 25 when he was 19 and it was the main talking point about them. A woman I knew was going out with a 32 year old when she was 23 and again it was commented on a lot. Neither case would raise an eyebrow today. rightfully too. What business is it of anyones?

Each to their own I say. There's an 18yr age gap between myself and himself and it's never made a blind bit of difference to us. To my knowledge no one has ever made any remarks about it to either one of us.

Anyone who does have an issue with age gaps in other peoples relationships has little in their lives.

I reckon if it feels right to you thats all that matters. I wouldnt care what anyone else thought. Each to their own and live and let live.

Any age is okay for both men and women and vice versa as long as there is an understanding and nobody is taking advantage or using the other person.

I never went for younger guys; I was always an old head on young shoulders type anyway.

I started seeing himself when I was 18 and he was 23. We got some slagging initially but our age difference has never really been an issue.

I have no issue with age gaps. Problem is the women who don't appreciate the maths. A man should be able to trade in one 40 year old for two hot 20 year olds if the opportunity presents itself, without hassle from his wife.

But unfortunately, it is frowned upon.

Ah look... if there's grass on the pitch, play ball! Once its legal and both parties are happy, who gives a flying fluck!

I'd personally find it weird being older than a guy I was tipping.

I also hate it when my ex starts tipping someone younger than me, I'd be raging. If she was older I wouldn't care

    Oh no, another tipping thread!!

On the age thing, you don't chose who you fall in love with. I've had relationships as wide as 14 years in both directions (14 years younger and 14 years older) I guess my spread is 28.

A better indication of people's feelings is their spread, what is the oldest/youngest relationship and what is your spread number.

Age really is just a number. I know some half-dead 25 year olds.

Age gap shouldn't be too much of an issue if it's not extreme. I'm 25 days older than my girlfriend. We were in born in the same month and year. I like that we are so close in age. Our memories of things start around the same time. We were in school and college at the same time. We didn't know each other back then but little things like that gives us much common ground and we can share similar reference points. I wouldn't have a clue what to talk about with a girl that was 10 years younger than me.

Sounds like an argument for incest...

I see anyone over 30 as old and wrinkly tbh. Would find it strange being with anyone more than a year older. But each to their own. :pac:

Half your age plus 7. Always

so in my case half of my age plus 7 gives me 19.5 <--- no problem there (male older in this case)

turn it around and give my age as the answer and you get 36 that's 11 years older. Would I be looking for a 36 year old partner? probably not. (female older in this case)

    just my opinion.

Five years that's hardly a generation gap now in fairness.

Sure I never said it was. But I was quite young at the time so it was unusual among both mine and his friends.
