No, it's worlds apart from Fr Ted. Fr Ted was actually funny for the most. MBB is absolute dire muck.

Anyone is free to chose what they like or dislike, but neither me nor anyone else choosing not to watch it will make it any better. It will always be drivel. Herselfs mother was here tonight and it was on, I've seen more humour in Oireacteas (spelling) report.

    Does herself mean your wife/girlfriend?

I'm sure there were off episodes of FT, there will be in any series, MBB is consistently muck.

    Who is laughing at it.

I think they are laughing at the Slap Stick - then the amount of canned laughter is unreal - but Fr. Ted had that too.

I'd agree bits of it are like Fr. Ted - do you know why - because he stole the ideas.

Fr Ted was totally original - this is the same old 80s **** humour and stolen jokes.

My mother likes it too, she and her friends laugh like drains at the thing, it is silly entertainment, any time I'm there I can see they're in hysterics! I tried it, it isn't my cup of tea but it entertains a particular section of society; but it really isn't that different in style from the father ted show either. But the hatred is hard to understand. Maybe it is because it appeals to an older generation?

I don't pay attention to who does like it, all I know is that I hate it because it's crap.

I defy you to name me a bad FT episode. I can't think of any.

    I don't...

I defy you to name me a bad FT episode. I can't think of any.

A lot of the comedy in ft depended on slapstick and inane juxtaposition. The comic timing of some of the lead actors was woefully inept. A lot of the jokes depended on wildly exaggerated stereotypes being placed in painfully contrived situations. And when the writers got lazy they fell back on tropes which were simply not funny in any context (Gowangowangowangowan)

Here whats up with RTE showing the exact MBB,s again tonight... the same one was on at least twice yesterday and now on again??

Are things that bad in RTE that they have to show repeats of repeats in two days?

Maybe to give everyone a chance to sit down and have a laugh, i'v been quite busy myself and still managed to miss the repeat's.

I remember that shlte used be on Radio years ago i.e 2fm. It had a slot on Gareth O' Callaghan's afternoon show.

I absolutely hated it then. I used to switch over to Atlantic 252 for 10 or 15 minutes until it was over.

The reason Ted is much more loved than MBB will be is because of the characters. MBB is just vulgar. Some of the comedy in both might be cheesy, but Ted wouldn't have been the same if it didn't have the characters and relationships it did, that is what made it special.

Just before Christmas Brendan walked past me in the lashings of rain in full Mrs Brown gear at around 1am. Thought I was seeing things and turned around to see where he was going and he went up onto the Ha'penny Bridge where there were loads of people waiting with lights and a camera. I had thought the lights were Christmas decorations but that was the only night they were there, so must have been put up especially for an episode of MBB.

I didn't watch the show, was there a scene in it like that?

Have on look at the cover of the RTE Guide Christmas edition and we need not debate any further.

They're making a movie which is in production at the moment.

yeah well it's a good job nobody asked for your opinion on the show or it's viewer's.

I'll be honest: Haven't got much time for MBB or Father Ted. Yes. I really said that. I'm actually not worshipping Father Ted. I've found a few people claim to be Father Ted fans just because it's the done thing, when they haven't really watched it at all, which is fairly annoying. I know it's an Irish institution and it has great moments but it's not the golden show it's made out to be.

I fail to see why people take Father Ted and Mrs Brown Boys other peoples opinions so serious, lighten up a small bit, i find one complete and utter dung and the other watchable but does it matter which is which?
Answer irrelevant we are all going to have different views but dont be getting yer Primarks in a twist over it.

Here's a real Sophie's Choice dye-lemma for you, you have to watch every episode of every season of one of the following or all of your nearest and dearest will be shot (you get the idea):

    Mrs. Browinz Boyiz

    OR

    Killinaskully

You have 1 minute to decide.
