Will banks still allow you to lodge an endorsed third party cheque? Specifically Ulster Bank?

Did they say why? Was it crossed or anything?

Crossed was a big part of it if I remember correctly. I know I was annoyed as I had been trying to collect money in a place for ages and then got this cheque. I think I got it cashed in a pub who knew everybody involved IYKWIM.

In my recent experience with UB no, certainly in Waterford. The cheque in question was from a major food company but they still woulddn't lodge it for me. Like it wasn't a bob charles one or a delaval one:P.

I have a good name to uphold, will I write you another one:D, any crossed cheques have to be lodged into the intended accounts, no ifs or buts, but I can manage them if you want to send it on:)

As far as I know, nowhere will cash a crossed cheque now - it has to be lodged into the payee's account only.

This situation is in work - a client got a cheque but has no bank account. (Strange I know but these are the people I'm dealing with). She is going to try to get mother to lodge it into her bank account.

    Cheque isn't crossed.

Just spoke to mother and she has a Post office Account - so that will be the first stop. Family are new to the town so shop cashing it isn't an option.

Genuine case - want to make sure she has a few € for Christmas

if they have a post office account, then lodge it in and withdraw it as cash, they will do it, or at least they do up here

Is she back living on her own again, the reduction on the 5th and 6th child in the mickey money allowance must be hitting you hard.

    All jokes aside
one of my family is disabled to a certain extent, and when going to shops has to park near the entrance as she is no Sonia O Sullivan shall we say. She was saying she couldnt get into the local shop yesterday as a certain guy was sitting in his jeep eating his breakfast roll. This guy started out with the best 200ac of land in the parish, mostly tillage land, would tell everyone how to do their business and couldnt do his own, pissed it up against a wall and squandered it every penny of it whatever way. Is claiming for the last decade and was lucky enough to get a new social house aswell. Great system

i have said it before and will again, only fools work and pay taxes and have a mortgage in this country, its a spongers paradise,

know a lad who was working for himself for 15 years and work ran out, went to see his case officer to see what allowances if any he would qualify for, she asked him to bring in all his outgoings

when he produced his mortgage repayment receipts she told him they cant accept that as its a personal loan, rent is acceptable but not mortgage repayments, WFT

my sister has ms, she has a disabled sticker for her car, in fairness she only uses the disabled parking spots on bad days but it drives her crazy to see people with no badge parking in the disabled spots

My late aunt had spinabifida. Drives me nuts to see people using the disabled parking spaces, especially if other spaces are available.
Printed up business card-like notices before and any time I seen someone walking from their car into the shop(s) after using a disabled space, I put one under their wiper.
The cards read that they had been spotted illegally using a disabled space with no sticker and had been reported.

    Mean, me?

On an earlier point, the welfare system isn't much fun for an awful lot of people. Granted there are some people on it because it's there. However there are an awful lot on it due to having no other choice. It's good that it is there for those who need it. Could as easy be any one here in need.

agreed up to a point, but people who never bothered to help themselves shouldnt have the same entitlement as those in need
