Belfast bombed by dizzy traitors

I see the brave patriots have been at it again. And at a busy time of year in the run up to xmas. How thoughtful of them. No doubt this is the wake up call we all need to remind us that patriotism, romantic and just, is still with us.

I wonder what we can expect for the centenary of the Rising? Perhaps a bit of carnage in some of the major cities at home and in the UK just to make us all proud as punch.

Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly also condemned the attack.

"This indiscriminate and reckless action was an attack on all the people of Belfast and those that had come into the city centre to shop or enjoy the build-up to the festive holidays," he said.

"Thankfully no one was hurt. Those that voice support for these groups, who's only allegiance is to violence, need to come forward and explain to the people what they aim to achieve by this reckless action."

I'm pretty sure it's just a "leave these people who are trying to enjoy their night out without getting blasted into smithereens alone" kind of thread.

I know I couldn't care less about who did it anyway. I'm more concerned with the potential deaths part.

Had planned a weekend in Belfast for maybe February. Stuff like this makes me unlikely to go however slight the risk. And I really love Belfast. Its sad for the city and its good people.

I always find it odd how the UK media have such a blind spot regarding NI.

I checked sky, BBC & the Guardian.... None have this attack as a headline (or even near the top).

Can you imagine their response if this happened in any other UK city & heaven forbid the perpetrators were people with brown skin!

That's not a condemnation .

He would have been better saying nothing.

Please don't let this put you off - I'm writing this a few hundred yards from where the bomb went off and looking out there is Christmas preparations going on as normal with people enjoying the festive shopping as they would in any large city. I appreciate this sort of thing captures all the wrong headlines but the chances of getting caught up in something like this are minute. Come up and you will have a great time.

But to infer that patriotism is the same as IRA bombings is ridiculous.
Being patriotic is not a bad thing, and you come across as trying to make it something shameful.

Yes it is, I'm the furthest thing from a shinner and what that said is "These dumb scummy fcuks are idiots".

I genuinely hope the next bomb they are building kills them, but not too quickly. I'd like them to suffer for being such horrible fcuking morons.

It's being pedantic. The words Gerry Kelly used are clearly condemnatory in character. I would prefer to hear what he says than a simple "I condemn this".

I think he was using sarcasm to reinforce the point that the perpetrators of this act have no idea what true patriotism is, and are following the foolish notion that violence is a means to achieve what they aspire to.

Despite his statment You are still unsure as to his thoughts towards this incident last night? If the answer to that question is yes, then my guess is you have a problem with Gerry Kelly as opposed to what he actually said.
