Why do you say the 11th?

This is the only official statement they have given for the time of the announcement. First week in December is the only one they have given, before that all they said was the coming weeks. The September October November was only hearsay and romours from unofficial sources. So if you ask me the haven't given any false statements. If we have waited this long we can surely wait till next Sunday when the week is out before loosing the run of ourselves and then we can say it was a false statement.

Shatter was throwing out those months all over the summer

What emails are u getting out of curiosity?

I have job alerts set up for other emergency services, namely the ambulance and prison service, they are my back ups basically if I don't get the Guards. The past 2 months I've gotten 2 job alert emails for Emergency Call Taker campaigns, both times thinking it was the Garda announcement

I honestly expect the announcement before the Dail rises for Christmas. It's all part of the political interference in An Garda Siochana which Minister do for their own political benefit. If I am wrong I think ye will be waiting lads.

It would be rising on Thursday 12th or Friday 13th. Which brings us right back to my earlier prediction.

Do you think im actually going to spend time doing that? You don't have to believe me. I'm not trying to convince you.

My point is back during the summer Shatter said it will be commencing in six weeks

Don't recall him saying six weeks anyway.

Eamon Gilmore yesterday in Dail - "As far as Garda resources are concerned, the Minister for Justice and Equality has secured approval from the Government for the recruitment, for the first time in a long time, of additional gardaí. The advertising for this recruitment process will be proceeding shortly."

Does anyone think that the projected 30,000 will apply? That's some serious odds for the projected 500 or so to go through templemore!

Hard to know, I presume some off that number have been on public jobs since the false dawn in 2010, I know I have. Some of these May have changed there mind, moved abroad or got another job. There is no way of knowing until the applications are closed, hopefully they will tell us what the number is then.

I'm dying to know how little the new recruits will be paid. They could go minimum wage and people would still apply. Seriously will be something to consider. Whatever about it being the job we all want. Itl be the same craic as the nurses I reckon. I know you'll never be rich but you don't want to go hungry either!

One thing that I see is it's beter to start at the bottom because then at leased you know what you can afford unlike all the gardai that got big mortgages expecting pay rises who are now up **** creek! The pay for new recruits can't get much worse and it will go up after a few years with increments and so on. As I said, it's steady pay and when you know what you have you know what you can spend.

If I was to take a guess I'd say a gross of about 34000 to 39000 a year. Including all allowances for unsociable hours, weekends etc...

As I said that's a guess. I'm not claiming to know. Just going on the rumours that a certain allowance will be gone and basic will be down 10%.
But anyone else's guess is as good as mine in this

O ya, I'd say your right in that figure for basic salary. But I'm talking about including allowances for Sundays, Saturdays, nights...etc

Ye maybe take 15k off that when training! I'd say there's skippers not even making that with 10+ yrs service!
