Climate control yeah? there isn't even manual AC in that car.
Really annoys me when people write crap about their cars which are not even on the car!

One has to wonder if "toyotaavensis" is selling a Toyota Avensis.

Always wanted a 528 with this spec when they were new. i would have liked leather too though.
Potential to be a lovely car.
note original dealer sticker (maxwell motors) and plates I'd hazard a guess a low owner car.

thats Eddie who owns consort's car. Very well maintained machine

    1970 Rover P6
    3.5 V8
    NCT exempt, Tax until 9/14
    €1700
Meets the criteria of bangernomics. If you're looking for a luxobarge it fits the bill (kind of) and you have the added bonus of classic tax.

Is there much to watch out for in these?
Do they suffer from overheating problems?

    Another classic
    1979 Toyota Celica
    2.0 Petrol
    NCT exempt, tax 2/14
    €2100 "ono"
Can obviously be bought for bangernomics money, albeit a bit on the high side. But this is nevertheless a very cool car, again with the added bonus of classic tax.

What do people think of the likes of this and the Rover being posted here?

In keeping with the general trend of the tread of late. On the face of it its hardly bargain @ €1,450 but you are getting a clean well built machine that will last. Looks clean and low mile at less than 130k and assuming there is no rust underneath.

Seems to be moderately well equipped for a family car of that era with electric windows all round, fully colour coded, front splitter, and slightly more upmarket seats than the lesser models. The 3 months tax softens that asking price slightly too. Love them cars for what they are....

A nice car but I don't think it would make a good daily driver. The reason I say this is because these are prone to rust. That car would be melted away after six months to a year out in the elements :p If it was me I'd only be using that car in good weather and for shows etc IMO.

I agree. Though from looking through the photos it seems to be in really good condition already, but we don't know what lies in the places we can't see in the photos.

I guess if you are brave enough, it could be a nice daily driver. And a garage would be a bonus...

They're hardly bangernomics in the true sense of the word but sure if they fit the criteria and ready to go why not throw them in...just my opinion for what its worth

Note that I'm not an expert but I believe rust protection has really improved over the last few years and if you get a fairly solid one then I think it should be possible to keep it that way. Could be wrong though.

I guess that is correct. Bangernomics is about saving money when it comes to motoring, and a 3.5 V8 Rover isn't really something people would associate saving money etc, but an Audi A8 or Lexus GS300 probably won't save you any more than the P6 would, would it?

All Toyota's and most other jap cars had non existent rust protection until the latter half of the 80's. Most of them literally melted away even at just a few years old :p

Imo that celica above would deteriorate quiet quickly if used as a daily. :)

Both very nice cars and incredibly cheap. Wrong forum though :)

Do you mind posting them in the "This weeks Classic bargains that i'm not buying" thread in the Classic Cars forum?

The good folks over there would appreciate it! :)

    2002 SAAB 9-5 Estate
    2.2 Diesel
    170k Miles
NCT 10/14, tax out 3 days
    €1350
Lots of recent work done which is a good sign. And the spec is nice. I've always wondered why lots of SAABs had that one part of the seat without leather, though.

    FYP :pac:

On a related note, does anyone know why FIATs in particular rusted more than any other European cars in the 70s and 80s? :)

I remember watching the road whizz by through a rust hole in the floor of my parent's Mazda in the early 80's. :)

Japanese VIP, gangster is right. It's the Yakuza's style of modifying cars. :p

I love it, big ominous looking things.
Looks brilliant on big 80'a Mercs too :)

Saw a really nicely turned out GS today actually. White with a black roof, big Lexus wheels and a bit of a drop, 30mm or so I would guess, nothing crazy. Also had a fairly loud exhaust. Sounds like a skanermobile when I describe it but it really was nice!
