Most VZR's go for that kind of money, they don't get the same following as EK's.
If that's the case wouldn't it be better to wait for a better example to come along for the same money? I know they are rare now but they do pop up from time to time.

So, writing off a decent car just because of the paint?
That's the thing though, it's not a decent car, well not in my eyes anyway. It's not just the paint, it why it was painted so badly.

Also maybe you disagree but paint problem is a perfectly justifiable reason to dismiss a car, especially one that old, as paintwork can be expensive to put right.

Can not agree with that sense, especially when you're talking sub €1500, no way he expects to get the full asking.
Your making wild assumptions there, that's you've spoken to the seller and agreed a price?

Im glad we can agree on it being overpriced though ;)

I think if it did buy it, I'd whack a coat of grey primer over it and leave it. It's a weird one but a mate if mine did it to his EG and it looks really well. For less than €50 too.
Ah here, :eek:that would make it a lot worse than it already is, desperate in fact. How could your mate do that to an eg civic.

Matt white wouldn't be my first choice but it's a bit of an assumption to think it was done badly, have you seen it up close?

I'd hardly write it off based on the paint job, would some people rather a perfect car on the surface but rubbish mechanically? If it checked out I'd overlook the paint job, they're less common than the 1.4, and the price could be wrangled down.
Id rather kill 2 birds with the one stone and get a car that is both mechanically and cosmetically in good condition.;)

Agreed, but while peoples idea of mechanically perfect is pretty much universal, beauty can be in the eye of the beholder ;)

Admittedly I didn't see this particular car up close. What I meant by badly painted, was painting it matt instead of doing a proper job. I have seen a matt white example of an almera(same body shape) and (to me) it didn't suit the car at all.

If you had your head screwed on and could do the work yourself, it's a decent fixer upper.

possibly one for the bad parking thread!
Looks a bargain though, on a serious note. We (well, my dad does :P) have one with 215k miles on her and still going strong.

And I think it suits the car. But opinions are like assholes - we all have one.

I wasn't arguing about the price. I was arguing that he made it look well. He destroyed a nice car.

Oh indeed I know every one has an opinion but as a civic fan I just can't believe any one could that to their civic.

Apart from the primer not being very durable due to it's porous nature, it also looks shocking on that civic Imo. It's called an undercoat for a reason:pac:

If that was my civic id leave the original paintwork well alone before id go spending 70 odd euro on primer to make it worse.

If I wanted to re spray it Id get it done properly. A nice gun metal gray colour etc would look the business on that car.:)

It's a personal thing I know but lads, you're absolutely ripping it out of some one's pride and joy and that's just a dick move.

The paint work was rough on the car, he saw another car like this and really liked it, he whacked on a few quids worth of paint and saved himself €2500 on a car that's probably only worth that. So financially a new paint job would have been a waste of money.

There's always room for something new, it's been a few months now and the car still looks the business despite every "expert" telling him it'd go to ****e and rust in a week.

Happens a lot, even on here in the skangermobiles thread. If you are prepared to do such a thing to a car you have to be prepared to take some criticism/comments no matter how they are put.

I'd imagine they're not handy alright. Wonder what the 2.4 is like....
