Not a surprising post, or the group of yes men that thanked it :)
Insulting my car too, nice. Well played man, well played.

Yes men lol insult for agreeing that the jokes on this forum are overplayed? It's true. You can't go a page in this thread without some thanks whoring with an overplayed joke that was funny once or twice a year ago. People would be as well served opening a group facebook chat for all this thread has to do with motors half the time.

91 in a 50 zone... When the gard showed me the gun I said out loud "ah ****!" And he just laughed at me. :o

My first time getting pulled an first time getting points, at least I got my money's worth an It wasn't for a measly 5kph. :p

Ouch...that could have gone either way if you met the wrong Guard:P

Your lucky you didn't get a bollocking over that.

Thats some speed to be "accidentally" doing ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,757 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Speaking of speeding fines. I seen this video on my news feed and I think some of the AGS could look at it and think about how they could perhaps see if they could change their attitude to be the same.

    I was done for 98 in a 60.

Only points I ever got, and to be fair its a wide road and I was overtaking a truck that was billowing more smoke that Moneypoint, and I was coming into a 100 zone. They were standing at the 100 sign, got two of us :(

(Heading out the Dock road in the Kerry direction)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,728 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Yeah, I was pushing on a bit because I was in a rush/went the wrong way. :p
It was down the long mile road to be fair, fresh off the motor way, 3 lanes and very light traffic. I actually thought it was 80 if I'm honest.

You've brought this on yourself dude, I didn't ask anybody to thank my post so that's between you and them.

In all seriousness this place is gone like a crèche, it's supposed to be a motoring forum but it's just full of silliness now. Whatever about the chat thread but it just seems to spill everywhere now. Look at the horsepower v torque thread, you're in there banging on about Japscrap too. It's not just you, it's nobody in particular but threads are derailed everywhere with what I can only describe as willy waving.

I have what is most probably the most powerful NA b-series in the country but I don't bleat on about it. I talk about it yes but that's what this place is for. I don't go making comments about American stuff being ****e or diesel being ****e. I say my piece and move on

Genuine question here, are you having buyers remorse? Is that why you feel the need to continue slagging the Jap stuff? To reassure yourself?

Did someone say thanks whoring !

Seriously though guys lighten up the great thing about boards motors section is its a laid back place where more often than not people get helpful replies and general advice.

There is an element in here of the higho horse brigade and smartarsed replies but I guess people need a place to vent god help them.

Insulting someone's car is abit much though.

I'm a bit long in the tooth to be worried about the thanks count tbh

Whatever about the forum being laid back, it's having to filter the rubbish in a lot of the threads before you see any content, the post a pic of your car thread being one, even the meet thread.

I wasn't insulting the Carina, more so the hullabaloo about a secondhand diesel Toyota.

Maybe it's me, maybe I've just outgrown this

That's fair enough but its a free public forum so what do you expect.

This is why I generally use UK car forums over Irish sites as there is an almost palpable sense of enthusiasm and simple questions being frowned upon by the in crowd.

Probably why a lot of those forums died on their asses.

I've brought nothing on myself, not my fault you had a hissyfit at a joke between me and CianRyan.
Buyer's remorse? I love the carina and it's N/a diesel ... got a million and one mods planned.

    Is that directed at me?
It was a term bandied about in here so I thought I would propagate it and give it room to grow.

I know all about the individuality of a man's car and that in the eyes of anyone else it means nothing. I suppose I'm just disappointed that a motoring enthusiasts forum, a diesel carina is being heralded as the second coming.

I never insulted anybody. Lets get that much straight right from the off. I merely stated that he ruined a perfectly nice car by putting primer on it, and making the car appear unfinished. To me (and a lot of others) that means he ruined the car. Which is a shame because underneath it is a nice car.
    Hmm

I'm far from a hissyfit, it's all calm here in the land of Gary, do you really not expect to be called on your constant comments though?

So you think my comments are not appropriate?
Don't respond so, or put me on ignore if it bothers you that much.

Report the post if it seems against the charter of the forum but I have been watching my posting on this count and keeping it clean and above board on the life of this account.

That's what I'm talking about though. Sifting through rubbish to get to content. I'm not talking about it being against the charter, I couldn't give a fiddlers about that, all I'm concerned with is the flow of the forum which seems lost and you're answer of 'put me on ignore' doesn't fix that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,917 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Yep, you mentioned it in a post above. What is a yes man??

You have to remember though that what Quazzie said was his opinion. As you have often said yourself, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. You don't have to agree with it but the retort that Cian posted was a bit uncalled for IMO.

    Right.
Well (and this is my last word to you on the subject, as mentioned I don't need a ban), I will be putting you on ignore and would suggest that you do the same for me if my posts trouble you that much.

    Have a great day. :)

    That's your opinion.
In mine, the act of directly criticizing a man's car that he has spent time and money modifying to his taste is insulting. And is uncalled for in my opinion.

I would have agreed with the retort that Cian's mate replied with, the comment made by quazzie was out of order.

I'm out as regards this topic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

One mans rubbish is another mans gold.

At least the forum is active.

If I was a new poster or lurker with a question reading this I would be inclined to not bother in case it would be deemed excess to requiements

I can see the chat thread ending again soon....

Just for the record. Cian's mate is banned from this site, so he forfeits his right to reply.

If you think my comment was out of order then stay out of the skangermobile thread. ;)

    Skewed logic there.
Insulting post and then if I don't like it, stay away
    You make no sense.

Is that not the exact same logic you advised to Gary when telling him to put you on ignore?

    No
I was not insulting anyone's car.
I was told I was boring people by talking about my carina. Big difference.

In fairness it is kinda boring to constantly hear about a clapped out mid nineties diesel Toyota on a motoring forum though.....
