New Derry one launched today. Tastey. Loving the no collar on the newer jerseys. No need for a collar.

I like that. Goof balance of old and new.

Limerick jersey is alright, nothing was ever going to beat the one we've had for the last 3 years though.

Sure the Dubs went with a plain simple design and it was criticized as looking to much like a soccer jersey. Can't please some people.

That's true. I like the new Dublin jersey though.

Donegal have changed to O'Neills and are launching a new jersey in early January. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

What genius decided to release it after Christmas?

Probably because the deal was only announced Wednesday so by the time it gets designed and goes into production it will be January. Deal probably should have been done sooner. Here is the post on their Twitter:
Official Donegal GAA ‏@officialdonegal 27 Nov
Donegal GAA & @ONeills1918 will launch a new Donegal GAA jersey for the 2014 season in the next few weeks & will be on sale in early Jan.

Not in Asia as someone said, the factory is in Strabane in Co Tyrone.

Yeah it was me who said Asia. But you're correct, they are made in Ireland.

Tipp should have went down this route. I like our new collar but get rid of this asymmetric nonsense

Dont they have to made in Ireland that's why Nike and Adidas are not in the GAA market as things stand with the rules ?

We (Carlow) didn'y get one of the retro designs last time around (the less said about our current abomination the better), so I'd be happy if we got the Derry template next time.

We've had the current design 2 years, but in the past we've gone 4-5 yers without a change so won't hold my breath for anything new in 2014.

I was asking because I came across this seller form China who has a host of O'Neills designs on his store, along with knock-off soccer ones. Just thought it was an odd place for them to turn up as an example of sublimation jerseys

Assembly and manufacturing could take place in two different countries so id imagine the cutting and stitching could be done in China and the jersey dyed and printed in Ireland

EDIT: Not saying that is what happens but just giving an example. Companies use alot of internal transfer pricing to reap economies of scale

That Tipp jersey is horrendous. The lack of a collar makes it worse.

Any jersey without a collar just looks hideous to me.

Kerry had an Adidas strip back in the late 90's but maybe the rules changed since?

Afaik that Kerry jersey was made in Ireland. Adidas sub contracted it to a manufacturer in Ireland to get around the rules.

    Yeah that's exactly what happened

No collar is the way forward lads, accept it. Collars serve no purpose.

Neither do sleeves, but I still wouldn't want to wear a wife beater.

The Limerick one was always going to be a disappointment. I couldn't understand why they didn't go down the plain and simple route with more of the jerseys when their last one was so great.

How did you come across this site? has anyone purchased from it?

Only for the Weather in Ireland the sleeves would be gone. O'Neills already make sleeveless versions of the county jerseys.

Yeah but that doesn't make it right.I think the collar gives a bit of shape and definition to the neckline. Whether it serves a purpose or not is another matter.

We'll just agree to disagree :)

As for the Limerick jersey above. Which jersey is which? Green/White is goalkeeper and Blue is the change strip, or other way around?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭RikkFlair

I think the Limerick jersey is class, should be more white on the away one though.

Edit: Nevermind its the goalie one

If that's the biggest disagreement we have...

I assume the Blue is the change strip (their old change strip was blue anyway)

I'd imagine they are both change strips, as was the case with the previous set. White was the first-choice alternative, but when playing opposition whose change was also white, the blue was worn. I think the league final against Offaly was the only instance of this.
