You can do it through the menu using the remote

I'm trying to find something to put in the shelf where I will be placing the rest of my media server, I have plans for most things, except for the hard drives, I don't want to stack them bare on top of each other, what can I get to help with this? I have seen silicone covers, but something like the cages you see in proper cases would be better (especially if it can fit up to five 3.5 inch drives).

you mentioned before about mounting the mobo on a sheet of acrylic - would you not do the same with the harddisks? two sheets of acrylic, one for each side of the HD's, with a bit of space between the HD's so air can circulate a bit (would imagine they'd melt in silicone pouches..!)

Either that or yea the removeable drive caddys you often get with new cases - Im sure someone has a spare knocking about. They're fairly ugly though (usually)

Yeah, I might look at getting some acrylic cut for the HDDs as well then, if I go ahead with it, I'm still deciding whether to get a case that will fit vs the shelf insert.

you could make some pillars for the sides of the hard drives and then just drills some holes in them and use some shelf support pegs to separate the drives

Ordered a crucial ssd from amazon yesterday and I'm just wondering if I will need a different sata cable to connect it to the motherboard?

Nope, it'll be the same as your SATA hard drives.

Cheap homeplugs with a socket so it doesn't occupy a socket

That video irritated me enough to see what was the cheapest thing that would be reasonably good for gaming (and also irritated me enough to not be able to figure out the basket parser script):

Really wish I hadn't watched that video. Reminded me of some terrible undergrad presentations where everyone in the room knew the subject being presented except the guy talking.

    Lads, urgent. Scary stuff:

I just got 4 emails from WagedayAdvance and some other loan company. Loans refused from some other UK website!

Is someone using my email to apply for loans online? I just changed password on my email. My debit and credit cards are not used etc.

anyone got any ideas?! Can they actually take out some loans on my name?! I am pretty sure the ones who did this did not had a way to get inside my email as all those emails were still unread...

Don't follow any of the links in the email. Could be Phish bait to get you to stop thinking, follow a provided link and try to change your password ASAP.

Even then, what financial institution takes email as a form of ID?

Did not clicked any links. Looks like someone might try to use my ID to apply for loan? Why would it go to my email?! How can they even apply?! both sites are UK. I might call to AIB and ask for replacement Debit and Credit cards.

Just called in to bank and asked to Block my both cards and send me out two new ones. Better be safe then Sorry.

Still, how on earth can anyone apply for a LOAN like this?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,407 ✭✭✭✭justsomebloke

If you got the following they didn't actually apply for a loan they were just seeing if they WOULD get a loan. probably just used your email address as a accidental random real address
    Dear Mr Smith

Thank you for applying with WageDayAdvance.co.uk!

Unfortunately your loan application was unsuccessful.

You do not currently meet our minimum criteria and your loan application has therefore been declined on this occasion, but please do try again in 2 or 3 months time.

Any loan agreement you may have signed will now be invalid and will be terminated with immediate effect.

    Kindest Regards

SH, I think you're freaking out over nothing. If someone did use your email address, then it means nothing. It is not proof of identity just filling one into a form.

Most likely, it's a phishing email to get you to click on links and enter private details. They probably have nothing on you and possibly don't even know for sure that your email address is real. If you don't click on the links, you are safe enough.

    Edit:
Still, how on earth can anyone apply for a LOAN like this?!

They can't; the entire thing is a fake.

Would this one go nicely with aftermarket GPUs that has volts unlocked, like MSI PE? Or it doesn't matter, since PE could be just fancy marketing thingie?

Cheers lads. I did googled and looks like it happened good few times in UK, where people then get Repayment mails on loans they never took out.

Well, anyway, cards are now changed, email changed. Those 3 emails put in to "DODGY ****" folder. We will see how it goes. It does mean that I will need to ask misses for some cash for PS4 launch "entertainment night"... bollox.

You could drop into a branch with some photo ID and withdraw money that way.

The missus doesn't need to know anything ;)
