Depends on which body it is. Have you contacted them?

I need to contact the uni to find this out. It was 10 years ago! If I have no luck i only have a week to get ECDL. Annoying as my uni modules are worth a lot more!

ECDL is a gift I done mine in literally 5 hours... All online, saying that the certificate took about a week so you have to get on the ball :/

Would be some going to arrange tests, get them done and have the certificate in that timeframe - good luck!

Apparently the online ones may not suffice as they are not say in an exam centre.

I don't think you actually have an ECDL if it was done online. Probably an even more useless certificate than the actual ECDL one that is for completing a training course or something.

What company or website did you complete it on?

Like a couple of posters here, I'm in IST limbo at the moment.

Regardless of what happens in the next couple of days, I would like to say congrats to everyone here who passed and are heading on to the next stage. There's plenty of good people here, and I'm sure a lot of you have a great chance of going the distance and getting that dream job!

I should hope so it all seemed official enough and cost a fair price... :/

Ill get company name up after ive double checked it if they are scamming don't want other people to fall into same trap.... I don't, however, think that it is a scam....

    Hi Tim,

Not sure where you are, but book an official ECDL exam tomorrow through the BCS if in NI or GB. This has been covered several times and PSNI will NOT accept 'certificates of course completion' from anyone other than BCS - the official provider in the UK. No other provider (in the UK) can give you an ECDL certificate. There are plenty of authorised exam centres though.

I'd be concerned that those who have left the IT qualification until now may be too late. At the test centre I used the tutor said they weren't doing any more testing for ECDL and that was at least a month ago. I'm not even in possession of the certificate yet as it is taking that long to come from BCS. Funnily enough I emailed them today to query it's whereabouts just before I got word that I had passed and was told I should get it tomorrow.

I think it'll be a struggle to get it done inside the next week.

Im shi**ing meself now :/.... It was done by an online company but they are an official company and I said on the hpone to them before sitting the online exam about that the course was for an official civil service job position and the fella said that they had had a few calls and people doing the course for the 'similar' reasons - and that the course is an official ECDL, if this stops me going through Im going to have em for false advertising and providing incorrect information regarding the course and the governing body!!

Will know come 9 am when lines open and can ring .....

Its ten times worse knowing I got through IST aswell ... :(

Did you do it entirely online? I believe they will only accept qualifications which were sat in an official recognized exam centre. I think all the other online courses that people on here have done turned out to be no more than glorified training courses to prepare folk for the actual ecdl exam. If they have told you it would be sufficient I think you would probably be well within your rights to go after them!

    Hi Tim,

I understand where you're coming from and the PSNI/Deloitte haven't exactly been helpful about the qualification requirement until this point.

I'd suggest sending a copy of your certificate to the joinpsni email (subject as per your email from them- near the bottom of the appendix I think) and asking them to confirm it for you.

An official ECDL exam is an invigilated exam though, so it can't be done online, at home. If the website you used was Southstep, Robust or Open IT (and many other guises), they're all the one company and have been discussed previously in the thread.

I hope it works out for you though. All the best.

    J

Think I am going to have to email then with a scan of my IT certificate. Its a level 2 qualification and says on the back of the cert that it's equivalent to GCSE A*-C but I want to have it in black and white that it's acceptable! I couldn't cope with them deciding on the day that it's not OK.

Think I'll wait a few weeks to do it though as their emails will be going mad the next week or so!

    J,

It was www.ecdluk.co.uk, or otherwise known as open IT, dirty rats have mugged me right off, I am gonna go after em for a refund and if refused I'm going to take them to court without a shadow of a doubt... I don't even know how many times I emphasised how important it was to be the official certificate and how many times he told me it was, I believed him so mindlessly I didn't even realise the certificate I received actually states that "this is to certify that Tim ******* has passed all the REQUIRMENTS of European Computer Driving License 5.0"

Needless to say I am raging but the light at the end of the dark dingy tunnel of the last 6 hours of worrying is that there's somewhere in Belfast I can sit an Official ECDL this week, and my AC isn't til late Jan so should be enough time for Certs to come through...

You and wanadrum are lifesavers I'd of been completely oblivious til they laughed me out of AC otherwise, thank god for boardies!!

    :)

That's great you can get an exam this week, presumably the certificate will be dated the day of the actual exam so you'll be OK for the Dec 2nd cut off :-D

    I'm made up for you!!
