Sitting in the brewdock sipping a of foam and fury. Seriously tasty stuff. Dare I say it's close - if not already has - knocked buried at sea off the top of my galway beer list.

Will be interesting to see how it holds up in bottles.

After having a B.A.S on tap the other night, I'd say that's my favourite of the lot. They're a fantastic brewery.

I know where I'm heading so tonight. First night free in ages and have been hoping to try it for a while

Forgot to say that I also tried Flying Dog's Gonzo last Thursday night.
Not to my liking at all, tough going.

Paired a strip loin steak and peppercorn sauce with a shepherd neame brilliant ale at just below room temp. Like torville and ****ing dean it was

Had a few pints of O' Hara's Red yesterday. Very pleasant indeed.

Got off the Dart at connelly and walked over to the bus stop across, looked at the times, my next bus wasn't due for 27 minutes so I popped into Brew Dock and got a beer with a full loyalty card I had in the wallet.

Had a buried at sea because I wanted something to match the season.

It really is a great stout.

I really was shocked at how good it was compared to the bottle I had.

To the point where my mates said "Yeah, ok, we get it".

I might be the odd one out, but I haven't found anything crazy about the two Thornbridge beers I've had. The Jaipur was quite nice and the Chiron was nicer, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get them again. They were nice enough, though, I guess.

I thought they were very nice but they cost the best part of a fiver from an off licence which is a bit rich for my blood

    foam and fury.

Is this their new double IPA?

Haven't been out in town for a while but if it's the DIPA I'll sample it soon enough hopefully!

    It is.

I tried it on Saturday evening and found it to be quite nice. There are beers of this broad style that I prefer but I did find it nice and smooth.

I'm sneaking an Odell's IPA from the collection. I couldn't resist. It's probably becoming one of my favourite beers ever.

I like nearly the whole Odell's range, there is a lovely background to all of them, a certain smoothness or something.

    Top notch brewery.

I'd have thought they might be too hoppy for you? :)
Actually they have very very good beers and I think they usually are well balanced.

Founders Porter. Was very, very nice....nicer than Leann Follain, and I'm a big fan of LF (Have a few bottles from Dunnes for over Christmas!)

    Speaking of Leann Follain.

4 for €8.50 in Dunnes at the minute (along with the full O'Hara's and Whitewater ranges as well as some fullers and other beers) :)

I see that Five Lamps have a new porter - Black Pitts - available in the Beer House on Capel St. I don't know what to expect. Porter is good but their lager is nothing special at all. I have yet to try their ale.

They're just far too overpriced in my opinion. I was able to pick up 500ml bottles of Thornbridge beers in the UK during the summer for no more than £2.50 and in some cases, £2!
Paying at least €5 kinda annoys me. Somebody (possibly the importer) is making a tidy margin on them!

I think I was expecting a lot more from them from what a couple of people I know said, and at the price I paid, maybe €4.50, I can't really remember. Yeah, £2 sounds a bit better, alright.

Is it really that cheap in the UK?! Wow! I thought the cost was just from the brewery.

Do breweries do exclusive deals with importers/exporters?

Yeah I was stunned when I saw them in the likes of Waitrose for that price. I had to rub my eyes and look again!
Regarding the deals, absolutely no idea. I'm sure there's some sort of exclusivity deal initially, particularly for such a small market like Ireland.

They'd be fantastic value at those prices then.

I'd imagine that market will get even smaller now with the duty increases.

    Samuel smith chocolate stout.

Not overly familiar with the style (other than buried at sea); it's certainly different anyway, but I'm still not sure if it's for me.

Ended up back in Cassidy's tonight with mates for a pizza and a few pints. Started with a can of Dale's then ordered a metalman with my pizza followed by another metalman and a half pint of dog wired. Rounding off with a Foam and Fury in brewdock while waiting for my bus.

Trying the Buried At Sea from the bottle after the draught at the weekend. Ah, I can't reach those heights from the bottle.
