Rat feeder has not yet been actually revealed

I thought we were to infer it from the young girl who was giving them names and saying they were still people?

If te Governor wanted to get in to the compound he could - remember Ricks makeshift hole in the fence.

The start of it is certainly in the immediate aftermath of the end of the last season, but judging by the Guvs impressive fake beard, a number of months passed before he came across the family. Im not sure how much time has passed in the prison since the end of the last season.

I would like if we had a better picture of time scales in TWD actually.

    ...

The following link is a timeline for the TV show, explaining what happened each day:
its not updated for last episode
We are day 554 when gov appeared at prison in 0x5
Episode 0x6 begins at day 323 at end of season 3 with gov at campfire
In the gov/girl voice-over it said he has on road for a few months
So the gov is now roughly halfway between end of season 3 and his appearance in 0x5 at prison I assume next episode brings us up to that point
or maybe next two episodes and the two arcs meet again

    Day
    323 = end of season 3
438 = approx where gov is now going into 4x07
554 = End of 4x05 with gov looking at prison

Would anyone sleep in a tent in a zombie apocalypse, surrounded by a huge open field, after firing a gun shot which attracts them from miles away, in the the pitch dark, having a fire(light) burning? All the while they had a massive truck which would be very safe to sleep in, just throwing that out there....

Two episodes ago, the two young kids miraculousy appear after the walker comes out to greet Rick and Carol all the while they've been hiding out there, again, great writing

David Boyd did a great job for episode 5, wish he would direct more. I might be missing something in the above two examples so If I am i`ll hold my hands up , but to me its lazy writing

My point in regards the tent precisely.

You might say I'm nit picking but these pieces of writing are just silly and over time they end up having a negative effect on the reputation of the show.

We might sit here picking over each others posts and try to explain away the problems people are raising but remember these shows are written by professional writers who get paid serious salaries. The show is massively successful and must be making a fortune for AMC.

So all I'm saying is raise the bar on the writing front, we deserve it at this stage after investing so much time in the series.

Its not the optimum camp site for the ZA, its actually the place where they took out the National guard unit so maybe they went there for a reason. A hidden supply stash, the truck etc and night caught up with them

3 heavily armed hardened biter fighters with one keeping watching
and working hardened vehicles at hand sleeping in the open in a remote rural area (i.e. not many biters about) with an open field i.e. lines of sight all around is not
    a plot-hole either

Martinez had to fire because the biter was so close to gov

These guys have the experience, mobility and firepower to handle anything.

General consensus is that writing has improved greatly.

Then why isn't it receiving the plaudits & awards Breaking Bad, the Wire and other massive cable shows get?

For a show like this to work the writers need the audience to care about the characters. At this stage, I couldn't care less if half the group were killed including Rick, I don't connect with any of them in this season or last.

Possible the subject matter? I mean a crime drama is one thing but a show about zombies.

Just to put this in context, the viewing figures for the finale episode of Breaking Bad were 10.3 million (according to Nielson).

The viewing figures for Season 4 Episode 1 of The Walking Dead were 16.1 million.

I think the numbers say it all.

Says nothing tbh, I watched both religiously and there is no comparison yet alone competition.

Every series of Breaking Bad was great, got better as it progressed. In my opinion only series 1 of ze Walking Dead was great.

Well, 6(ish) million people would disagree with you there.

    11m people watch eastenders, doesn't mean it's good :)

And surely it would be 16ish million not 6 :P

Crime sells better than Zombies and is much easier to pass by word of mouth to friends about crime than zombies which would just get an eye roll. The facts are plain to see, zombies are automatically laughed out off it.

16.1 million - 10.3 million = 6ish million. As in, even allowing that every Breaking Bad viewer is also a Walking Dead viewer, that still leaves 6ish million more people watching The Walking Dead.

But you highlighted the bit in my post 'in my opinion', me = 1.
    16m - 1 = 16m ish lol

Alright then, 16ish million for you :)

We must be nearing the mid season hiatus?

I dunno if i want it to go down the redemption for the governor/make us like him thing. I hope they're setting it up in a way where he's offered a chance at redemption, a woman who cares for him, getting his daughter back as such with the little girl but then he decides he still needs his revenge on rick and loses it all in a blaze of glory

hes too good a character to get a happy ending.

there is properly a certain amount of zombie-snobbery on part of many critics
bear in mind the vast majority of zombie movies produced are terrible low brow rubbish

Actually according to wiki TWD has more awards and nominations than the wire and about a third of BrBa

In fairness The wire and BrBa are A+ shows the gold standard , I think the TWD is good but not that good Its a B+ overall IMO flawed could have been better.

The IMDb/tv.com ratings seem about right

    BrBa
    9.5
    9

    The wire
    9.4
    9

    TWD
    8.7
    8.7

There are only two roads in America, one is blocked by zombies in mud, the other leads to a prison.
