Shane Richie can act as was shown on the night he found out about Derek, but the writers of EE seem happy to have him play a gormless fool.

EastEnders bosses have confirmed that the soap will be tackling the issue of breast cancer in a new storyline for Carol Jackson.

Carol, played by Lindsey Coulson, will find a lump in her breast just before Christmas. After an appointment with her doctor, she is referred to a specialist for further tests and is diagnosed with the illness in the New Year.

Scenes airing in early 2014 will see Carol's family deal with the implications of her diagnosis.

The emotional storyline will also see the return of Natalie Cassidy as Carol's daughter Sonia.

Speaking of her new storyline, Coulson commented: "This is a very important storyline as breast cancer is something that affects so many people. Through Carol's story I hope we can raise awareness of the impact of breast cancer on the people that have it and their families."

EastEnders' executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: "EastEnders has a long tradition of dealing with social issues and breast cancer is one that the majority of people have been affected by in some way. And this is not just a story about breast cancer. This is a story about women, about mothers and daughters, and ultimately about family.

"And with Lindsey Coulson, Michael French, Patsy Palmer and Natalie Cassidy giving powerhouse performances at its centre, this is a storyline that will inform, move, and shake up the audience as it shakes up the Jackson family."

Personally speaking, I wouldn't teach a child to do it to strangers. I think it'd be fine with a family member, but not with a stranger. I certainly wouldn't be happy if I saw a child I didn't know spray me with water, with their arms being guided by an adult I didn't know.

Anyway, pretty irrelevant really what with all that's going on in Eastenders lately :)

Great to see Lindsey get a proper storyline, I've always felt she's a fantastic actress who's been completely wasted.

The actress who plays Kirsty has said the reason she is leaving was due to a miscarriage in real life, very sad news.

It's a pity because I liked the character she played and I can think of a few useless characters that could go but unfortunately they won't.

So stupid. Did he bring his passport to the church? How the hell did he get up the stairs to the aeroplane? No security in a London airport. All the other passengers were very quiet in the plane.

Why couldn't Kat leave by speed boat with Alfie on a jet ski in shark infested waters???????????

How many disasters have happened in soap weddings? Must be a record by now. Why don't the characters see that weddings should be avoided at this stage? Some people never learn. How did Ian Beale manage to have four wives?

So sick of Alfie now. Couldn't believe he could be so callous to marry Roxy and then run off after Kat before the ink was dry on the register. So so cruel. Awful character now.

Agree that wedding dress was the most hideous I've ever seen. Would have been bad enough in white or ivory but that colour just added to it's hideousness . Thought it might start smoking anytime Roxy walked, the noise it made. Her little girl looked adorable as usual. So cute with those cheeks.

One of the worst episodes of all time?

Friends did it so much better, Alfie should of told everyone that there was something wrong with the left phalange

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92,394 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

So does Alfie think him, Tommy and Kat can just live in Phil's pub still with Roxy now

worst part about the hole thing is that they ruined the friendship alfie has with roxy

when they were friends he called her peroxide and she called me granddad

I always like there friendship it showed that men and woman can be real friends

    storyline should of never happened

ee jumped the shark last night
