Ah, as long as making abusive comments is "no fun anymore" here its worth-it.
    Looks like its working!

People who don't like ranting on the ranting thread should just look at the raving thread.
As far as I am concerned men can be cnuts, women can be cnuts, children can be cnuts animals can be cnuts, even machines can be cnuts. It's a catch all term. Offensive? yes. But this thread is supposed to be about being offensive and letting steam off. Sexist it is not. (yes that was a rant ;)).

See what I mean? An hour hasn't even passed, and one of the cnuts is up rubbing everybody's noses in it. ;)
I hope you're enjoying your Nescafe, you fnck. :D

See above for two previous incidents when people were labelled cnuts on this thread; not a word was said about it ;)

    Here is a definition:
    **** (knt)
    n. Vulgar Slang
    1. The female genital organs.

    2. Sexual intercourse with a woman.

    3.
    a. Offensive Used as a disparaging term for a woman.

    b. Used as a disparaging term for a person one dislikes or finds extremely disagreeable

The poster started his post with "This woman..." and ended it with "What a stupid cnut..."

The meaning (3.a) in bold above is the fit for the posters use of the word is it not? A disparaging term used because a person is a woman is a sexist term.

As I have previously said. The right thing to do when you encounter sexism is to challenge it, even if it means you get attacked by others for doing so.

T-Runner seriously will you let it go. This happened before, remember? That thread was a disaster and no good came from it, so why go over the same ground again? You even stopped posting and abandoned your log last time as a result. I really dont understand why you'd start the same thing in motion all over again.

Ah here, you honestly think the poster was being sexist?! Would you have reacted the same had the poster said some fella, a pr!ck, pulled out in front of him?

    I missed my marathon goal by 5 seconds, now that's a C*NT...

    Let it go.

it is a fine insult indeed, but it's also as American as apple pie and therefore does not sound right coming out of Irish mouths. It's an unfortunate situation, but it's like Irish rappers, just not right..

    Just got a sopranos flashback.

id use it more often if I knew what it meant. Might as well call someone a showercap for all I know.

I had a girlfriend once that hated hearing that word on TV, never understood why until she explained to me what one is. Not very pleasant.

I remember the thread well. A lot of "doucebags" were attacking the participants in the womens mini marathon, women in general and then Irish women in particular. When a group of posters (men and women) thought it right to defend these women, the cream of Irish boyhood turned their abuse towards us.
And what good came of it?
Good question: In the aftermath of the thread the Mods specifically prohibited sexism in the charter for this forum which everyone is obliged to read. Thats a good result indeed.
The fact that a thread that was attacking female runners badly backfired to the point of being "a disaster" is also a result on an Athletics forum with female members.
You even stopped posting and abandoned your log last time as a result.

I dont know you from Adam Tungusta, and you have misrepresented me there. I have a log here and i posted my reason for leaving boards there , time restrictions due to an extra family member (several weeks after the mini marathon thread). In fairness to me you should get your facts straight.
I really dont understand why you'd start the same thing in motion all over again.

I havent started anything Tungusta. I challenged an abusive post and all my subsequent posts have been replies to people uncomfortable with that, having a go at me for it.

Now i more than willing to let it go, but if people want to continue having a cut at me for challenging sexism, then on we will go, its water off a ducks back for me. But direct the "move on" stuff to them, not me from now on. I'm entitled to defend myself.

Read the thread. That has been claimed and answered. Let it go? Up to you now.

I propose that we keep this thread for ranting only.

If any discussions come off rants, why not host them in the Off Topic thread, alternatively we could set up a "ranting/raving discussion thread"...

    Midweek concerts!
The traffic trying to get across the East link!
The price of the merchandising and food/drinks!
Trying to get out of the O2 car park - 45mins!!
    Cranky kids this morning!
    And

Rant: Rants relating to cars. Why must English speaking countries be so car dependent? 30% of Copenhageners cycle to work! Hardly surprising they are healthier than us, with lower obesity!

Music is beautiful. Mountains are beautiful. Beautiful music in beautiful places can be a great experience.

Silence is also beautiful. You can have both.

I know it's a rant thread and rants are not necessarily rational, but what's the problem with Range Rovers in Suburbia ?

oversized ? 10 cm longer than a mondeo, same width.
uneconomical ? Any more than a Land Cruiser, Merc S-class ?
expensive? If you're not paying why would you care if you're not paying for it ?
    unnecessary? Says who ?
snotty D4 mammy types ? Snobbery or jealousy?
