The Government has announced that Ireland is on track to more than double the number of Indian students coming to Ireland to pursue third-level education by the end of 2014.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said Enterprise Ireland's strategy is to increase the number of Indian students to over 5,000 over the next five years.
He said this would generate income from fees of around €50m, with a further €50m spent in the economy on accommodation and living expenses.
There has been a 120% increase this year in applications from Indians seeking to study in Ireland.
Mr Burton made the announcement during a five-day trade mission to India.

Is this a direction Ireland could be taking? Seems like it kinda fits the idea of a knowledge based economy, we produce students and export em around the world.

Seems like two department hacks could have come up with this idea in the dept. of enterprise.

How can we increase FDI into Ireland?

Erm, more Indians, those guys can do all that techie stuff we can't! For everyone else, there's Jobsbridge!

    The end.

Why would they want to come here? Surely they have all heard about how bad our health system is.

    Yeah ! Sure they do.

    And there is this :-

"Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said the job announcements by Aditi and Synowledge show that Ireland is a good gateway to Europe".

"... a good gateway to Europe" - Exactly - another Race to the Bottom.
Just like what happened with the last little Boom.

So, now the Balti Balti Balti guys are after our stuff.
That is what this is really all about.

In the future, those big Balti Balti Companies will take over every bit of our IT work.

Bit by Bit - by stealth - wait 'til you see how this will work out in the end.
    Look at Ingiland.
very difficult to get a well-paying IT Job over there because they encourage and import Balti Balti
like they were going out of fashion and an endangered fooookin species.

And, they live on a bowl of rice a day, 2 bowls of rice on a Sunday ... and sleep 6 to the shelf in the Bathroom. Never spend a Penny either.

And, the sad thing is that the Knob Jockeys in Oireland see this as a Positive Development.

In my opinion - and for various reasons - including shoite like this - exiting the EU - beckons closer and closer.
    And, take back our Country.

What about the places for Irish Students? Most Irish people have to pay for post grads, the real good ones get sponsored, what happens when you cant afford to?
Then the Indians leave with their education and where does that leave the smart economy? for what 100million? Id say these are filling science and engineering posts, the exact type of knowledge this country needs to generate money and investment.

The last Link is rather shocking - it is to do with RBC Bank in Canada :-
"They are being brought in from India, and I am wondering how they got work visas," said Dave Moreau,
one of the employees affected by the move.
"The new people are in our offices and we are training them to do our jobs. That adds insult to injury."

Now - we have another Thread about the "JobBridge" Rip Off.
This stuff is "JobBridge" - on roller-skates.
    Believe it.

We will have the same problem as the UK, foreign 'students' signing up for dodgy courses just so the can work 20 hours a week here on a student visa.

    What's a dodgy course? And if they're a student they're a student.

    Racial profiling.

Just make it so only the very top money Irish can go to Uni.

Make 95% of Uni positions available for the Indians.

You're not going to need an education, as these people are going to do all the techy stuff for you.

the indians are ahead of us in most things, why should we import them to study when thousands of irish all ready here are either emmigrating or stuck on the dole?

....because they'll pay thousands for the privilege which will help fund third level for Irish people.

    What's a dodgy course? And if they're a student they're a student.

Arts, travel and tourism, anything in NCAD, theres plenty more in all the ****ty little colleges and IT round the country. Basically anything thats under a 36 hour week or anything that allows you to go get pissed most days, study for a week and get a pass degree.

I do understand these places for indians are post grad courses which Involve massive hours and no holidays.
Most people doing post grads here will be employed by a multinational, earn a wage that will have them fisted by the taxman for the next 40 years, tax the country needs to pay off debt and provide services.

Seems another stupid Idea by government.

I wonder why they have stayed very quiet about them deciding to charge apprentices massive fees to attend a few weeks in a IT on their out of job phase?

    3rd level costs 50million per year?

Post grads here pay thousands too, Undergrads pay almost a grand just to register too.

Id rather give the places to people who will stay in Ireland and contribute back into the economy, over 40 years Im sure id see my 50 million.

Instead they import students, and let a generation of Irish leave.

Even though arts is required for teaching?

Your mask isn't staying on - you're just pissed off at foreigners being let in here, despite all the contributions they'll make as students and tax-payers on their part-time jobs. They pay a lot more in fees than EU citizens.
