    Have you looked into emulation?

Once you own the original cartridges it's not illegal as far as I know. Bit murky all the same but you can even play the snes on a smart phone or put it on a computer and pick up some mock SNES usb controllers.

    Ridiculous amounts of nostalgia.

Looked into emulation a few times but was always put off by the fiddly-ness of using a keyboard as the controller. Where can you get the usb SNES controllers?! I neeeeed.

I was always too fussy about emulation quality of the SNES. Far too many videos on YouTube of people playing Super Mario World and it doesn't emulate the mushroom powerup sound properly. For me it's bsnes all the way, even if you do need a super computer to run it. :pac:

Maybe it was more an English thing, but I've still got the full set of coca cola yoyos.

I showed them to the kid, she raised an eyebrow and went back to her Lego friends.

That said, she has a car street rug mat thing, the imagination kids have is amazing.
3 cars and a talking horse and she's playing for hours

I find it quite shocking how that type of imagination is lost into early adulthood.

I have no real interest in Lego or other toys, would find them boring tbh. Don't even find computer games all that fun anymore.

Funny, just seeing this thread now. I almost went into Smyths today to buy something - a board game or make & do set. I didn't really know what. But my hungover self was afraid of being too overwhelmed by the equipment to make different sized bubbles and fear of buying half the shop well hungover, I decided against.

I'll be going back tomorrow though! Any suggestions on what to buy that will entertain me.

Just remember you can have great orgasms as a grown up. Makes the whole thing worthwhile tbh.

You can have orgasms as a 12 year old.

You could do worse than head into Easons, pick up a couple of "paint by numbers" sets for adults. My wife buys a couple every so often, and finds them very relaxing.

She's in the middle of painting one right now, and as Mary Fitzgerald would say, "Here's one she made earlier" :D

I've come down with a rotten cold this evening...I want someone to mind me like when I was little :(

Having said that, I did get to stay at my new fella's place last night without having to call anyone/ask permission to stay out all night.

    So swings and roundabouts, really...

Omiglob, Mr. Frosty! I had one of those! :D Used to love making ice cones with them. Of course, I too came from a household where the only ice we had had to be pre-made the night before. :)
This thread is making me terribly nostaligic. Also: I FOUND THE USB SNES CONTROLLER!! Not sure if this would work on a European computer such as mine, though... still, I can dream.
That said, I still want an actual SNES. Preferably one with a scope gun. Does anyone remember the old duck hunt game that came with the NES Super Mario Bros? Spent many hours desperately trying to shoot that damn dog!

Should be no problem with the USB controller working on any system.

I have too many Nintendo consoles: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Game Boy (original), Game Boy Pocket, DS Lite and 3DS. :o

I do indeed remember Duck Hunt. There was a version called VS Duck Hunt that was available in arcades, and you could shoot the dog in a bonus round. :D

All the pressure and responsibilty of adulthood is worth it when you can eat 6 sherbet fountains in a row and no one can stop you.

I don't miss my childhood at all. My childhood is nothing but bad memories, but from when I became responsible for myself (say 17 when I started earning my money) goes up from there, I like being responsible :)

Sorry to be a killjoy, but I'm going to have to blow the lid on Mr. Frosty. Its basically a cheese grater disguised as Mr. Frosty. You won't be making your own slush puppies on Christmas morning, after 20 minutes of turning his handle and pushing on his hat you will have a puddle of water and about a teaspoon of slush. Also the natty ice cube trays are rigid plastic so when you try to get them out you have to smash them off the worktop and they break in two (maybe I was still angry about the ice grater).

I had secretly wanted Mr, Frosty all my life and couldn't wait to give it to my son. I'm not sure either of us have recovered from the disappointment.

My aunt and I have a tradition every year on New Year's Eve to play a game, seeing as there's rarely anything of interest to watch on the telly. Last year it was Monopoly and the year before that it was the Family Fortunes board game.
This year I REALLY want to get a copy of Trivial Pursuit but now she's saying she wants to do a jigsaw puzzle. :(
I don't like jigsaws. I'm no good at putting things together, hence my aversion to Lego and the like.
    Any good board game recommendations?

Fairly sure my Sega Master System II is gathering dust, I know I definitely still have the Megadrive (which we got second hand years after "everyone" had one). :)
