    Billy Connolly:
My father once dropped fifty pence, bent down to pick it up and it hit him in the back of the neck.

As regards coins, I don't think I've ever seen anything higher than a twenty cent coin on the ground. It's not worth touching the ground where there's likely to be phlegm, broken glass or dog excrement just to get twenty cent.

At least with notes you can usually grab them by the corner.

I get my papers most Saturdays in the local Spar. Last Saturday I saw a 1c on the ground in the car park, and walked by it. It was still there this Saturday (parked in the same place), so I picked it up. (I put it in the charity box)

soooo, you don't ever accept change when you buy something?
The germs on coins & notes, there's hardly a point thinking about it.

Just wash your hands before you eat etc.

I pick up anything of monetary value, it all adds up.

    I don't do cash.

The money stays on the ground.

Only this very morning I walked past two €50 notes, a crisp tenner, and a wad of twenties in the space of half a mile.

I'm not talking about handling money with invisible germs that you can't see though. There are parts of the town here where you can't walk ten feet without seeing a bug puddle of phlegm on the path. I'm not going to put my fingers in that to get a few cent.

There's loads of scumbags throwing glass bottles on the ground too. There are areas here where are pieces of glass, some of which are tiny and difficult to see, all over the path. I'm certainly not going to cut my finger for the sake of ten or twenty cent.

Anything less than a 50 spot just looks like desperation.
