Id pick up a penny, but probably wouldn't bother for a two or five cent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,003 ✭✭✭Busted Flat.

If it was less than a ten cent coin if that was possible, I would pick it up. Wait till you see when they decide to get rid of the one cent coin where will prices go will it go €9.98. Think back with the currency changes over the years, did the customer benefit, like fook they did.

    This got me thinking.
If you walked around a city for two hours looking for lost change I wonder how much you would find?
I used to go around the nightclub when I was younger at the end of the night picking up lost money before the floor staff got there with there brushes.
Found a fair bit has to be said; enough for a curry snack box some nights, I even gound a twenty POUND note thats like 50 in todays money

When I was in school there was a teacher who would pick up any coin he'd seen. The students caught on and when they saw him coming they'd throw a few coins on the ground and watch laughing while he picked them up. Off he'd stroll with the smuggest fcuking grin on his face, with a pocket full of coins that were just after being in between the cheeks of the laughing students arses.
He had his coin picking technique off to a fine art, such grace and effortlessness,I can only assume he knew where those coins had been but as far as he was concerned he was quids in.

As regards coins, I don't think I've ever seen anything higher than a twenty cent coin on the ground. It's not worth touching the ground where there's likely to be phlegm, broken glass or dog excrement just to get twenty cent.

At least with notes you can usually grab them by the corner.

I get my papers most Saturdays in the local Spar. Last Saturday I saw a 1c on the ground in the car park, and walked by it. It was still there this Saturday (parked in the same place), so I picked it up. (I put it in the charity box)

soooo, you don't ever accept change when you buy something?
The germs on coins & notes, there's hardly a point thinking about it.

Just wash your hands before you eat etc.

I pick up anything of monetary value, it all adds up.

    I don't do cash.

The money stays on the ground.

Only this very morning I walked past two €50 notes, a crisp tenner, and a wad of twenties in the space of half a mile.

I'm not talking about handling money with invisible germs that you can't see though. There are parts of the town here where you can't walk ten feet without seeing a bug puddle of phlegm on the path. I'm not going to put my fingers in that to get a few cent.

There's loads of scumbags throwing glass bottles on the ground too. There are areas here where are pieces of glass, some of which are tiny and difficult to see, all over the path. I'm certainly not going to cut my finger for the sake of ten or twenty cent.
