Do you like the Hare Krishna?

Was in town earlier (That's town in Dublin for you country folk lol :pac: ) and saw two Hare Krishna just giving it loads :P
Just singing Hara Krishna song peacefully through an amp. I dont know much about them besides what my dad always said - that "they're alright"

So whats your views about them boards? (Poll added too)
Honestly the most I know about them is running them over in GTA2 (I know thats a terrible thing to say lol :pac: )

Spoke to one before. They are mostly alright but I dont like how they say to you "we give out these books for free" hand over the book and then say "but we do ask for 3-4 euro to cover printing costs."

The kept me alive in Prague, they cook free food without having to listen to a lecture. Donations suggested but really cheap suggested donation. Yummy vegan food.

They do the same at Glastonbury.

I like their food. Mind you their restaurant in Aungier St was closed down by the health board at one stage.

Anybody else seen the lad in the Yaris, who when sitting at traffic plays mini-cymbals and sings? Saw him on Westmoreland Street and Bolton Street.

Seemed like the Hare Krishna sort. Made my day though.

Lovely people, very gentle and friendly. Once got chatting to one in Henry Street years ago. Can't remember how, and I'm not in the slightest bit religious, but it didn't bother him, we just had a chat about what they do and why they go out on the streets playing music. Even though I only had my bus fare on me and couldn't give him a donation, he still insisted on giving me a book, even though he probably knew I'd never read it. But the best thing about them is their music. I love it and could listen to them playing for hours.

Had a boss who was Hare Krishna - disliked him intensely. Not a crazy guy just really really lazy.
Generally seem like a nice group.

you have to wonder about possible subliminal messages in their Govinda' restaurant background music

Had a delightful meal there but afterwards had an unstoppable urge to the barbers followed by some clothes shopping and then lastly to waltons music shop.

Anyway the OH was appalled when I got home.

There I was with a newly shaved head bar a small pony tail dressed all in orange ringing a bell at the door

From what I read tonight on google/wikipedia/etc ... one sings and dances on the street and it's your choice to give money, whilst the other sucks money out of you & controls a very large segment of Hollywood.

HaHa I saw him on Wed, belting out Hare Krishna in a little car at the lights. Then he takes out these symbols and starts banging away on them. He brought a smile to everyone that saw him.

I haven't come across any in a good few years. Always found them to be nice people though, and as a vegetarian Govinda's is always a handy spot for cheap and filling food when I'm in Dublin.

Their "Food for Life" organisation seems to do great work in providing food relief.

We watched a programme in school on the Hare Krishnas that live together in Wicklow. All I remember is that they can only have sex when they intend to procreate - or something along those lines.

Harmless as a whole it seems, do some good. I do disagree with a few of their philosophies, but overall they probably make the world slightly better for being.

That said, in the first GTA games, nothing was quite as satisfying as lining up a bunch of them and getting them all in one

Apparently there is a split in the Hare Krishna movement in Dublin at the moment with two rival factions worshipping in seperate temples.

Thats complete rubbish.. I've two friends who are Krishna's and they're like anyone else when it comes to their sex life, dating etc.. And one of these is pretty devout too.

They have a substantial island on the Cavan-Fermanagh border on the river erne. Quite impressive
