That it's something associated with women. Is the meaning, that is. I'd fire ahead with one if I was driving. Maybe with this glass. Facing outwards.

I use a half pint glass when drinking bottles in the pub, it's about head retention. Also, I don't think/care that it looks "feminine" - what does that even mean ?

Werent you slagging me last week for drinking a girlie half pint?? ;)

    yes, I was.

but that was a half pint, not a bottle in a half pint glass.

    therein lies the difference.

    :pac:

You'll have to explain that one. I genuinely do not understand why you would serve a bottle of beer with a glass that doesn't fit it. If it's a throwback to when beers were bottle conditioned that makes even less sense.

What gives? What about head retention?

Galway Bays new DIPA is pouring in ATG, served in the 2/3rds pint glasses it works out at about €8.60 per pint

So at 8.5% ABV that's like serving a 5% ABV beer at just over €5 a pint, or a 4.3% ABV beer at around €4.35 a pint.

But saying that it costs €8.60 a pint is a bit disingenuous. Given the high ABV, a 2/3 (pint) glass of it would compare better with a pint of 4.5 to 5% beer. So the €5.75 (approx) that it costs is the equivalent of a pint of regular ABV beer costing €5.75, which ain't cheap, but it isn't extortionate either.

How much is 2/3rds a pint of Hoptimum out of interest does anyone know?

    I like 33cl bottles for any beer over around 5.5 - 6%.
    Anything under that I like a 50cl.

ABV aside, Of Foam And Fury at €5.75 for 2/3 pint is very good value. Don't forget your loyalty cards as well!

Tried Brewdogs 'Santa Paws' there the other night.. Was not bad but not a very festive offering!!

Anyone spied Anchors Christmas offering for this year yet?

I have a full loyalty card and I'm going to drop in the the Brewdock to redeem it against a glass of Foam and Fury.
I've been hearing good things from people about it today.

I think €5.75 for a 16oz glass of 8.5% beer is decent enough for craft beer in Dublin.
I'd reckon it's about €5 in Galway, which would make it the same price as the likes of the Rogue, Thornbridge, etc ranges serves in 16oz glasses, which is think is fine.

Hoptimum was over €6 for a 16oz serving, if I remember correctly.

I take it you tried it today, how do you rate it as a beer? Or will I have to wait for a blog post?

I thought that it's strange that it's not available from Brewdog direct.

I'm not sure. Drinkstore have it too, but I do remember them selling out last year as I never got to try it. I haven't heard any promotion by Brewdog (something, believe it or not, they love to do) so when I seen it available it got me wondering.

Just had 2 pints of devils backbone for lunch in the black sheep.
A lovely ale I must say, strong in both strength and flavour with a slight sweetness.

They had no Colarado Red left :(

Had a pint if the Colorado last week, was nice and I wouldn't have minded a few more but It didn't blow my mind or anything.

Have a bottle of the brewdog old world in the fridge and tucking into the kinnegar IPA now, tis delicious.

Will head down to ATG to try the DIPA tomorrow, reviews sound very promising!

Went to Redmonds, Ive drank practically everything in there now and they had no new releases since I was in last. Seriously considering moving to Stoneybatter. Or Portland.

Had a bottle of Kinnegar Limeburner the other day. Was quite disappointed as it reminded me a lot of some of my homebrew efforts (and in fact I'd rate some of my homebrew efforts higher). Will give the other Kinnegar beers a try. Really enjoyed the O'Haras double IPA (bottle), but that is more my style of beer. Have a bottle of Hoptimum stashed in the fridge for this evening.

Dale's Pale Ale - Oskar Blues

Absolutely cracking beer. I could drink this all night........well, at 6.5% maybe not.

Sitting in upstairs ATG to watch the match and just had my first sip of Foam and Fury.

Its a fecking cracking beer and even though its so high in abv and ibu its extremely drinkable and has a great maltyness to balance to hops.

Just opened an o'haras winter star, not the best.....

It really isn't. It's smells quite a bit nasty too, if I'm honest.

It's a bit all over the shop, sour, as opposed to bitter and a kind of unwanted smokey tangyness.

Cool. I'll be at the O2 tomorrow night so I'll pop in when I'm done and have a try.

I'm starting to think that O'Haras can't do any beers other than their core range.
