Just checked my phone and its a GT i9506 which is not available yet its a pre production phone.

Afraid to root it but sick of adds and bloatware(just disabled them) no roms on XDA for this phone.

    Any options?

FYI - KNOX is only a link after the update. It's there in the app drawer. You will still need to open the link and then download it. You can choose to ignore it if you dont want to use. When you click on the icon it gives tou option to install. I havent downloaded it. No problem so far. Also all my widgets etc are there. So I am ok with it at the moment until I discover something that **** my phone :)

KNOX marks the phone in the bootloader as security breached therefore voiding your warranty apparently there's no way to mark it back to stock afterwards if you had to send it away for warranty , I do remember some stupid pop up coming as well that kept nagging me about security.

So I'm steering away from it for now on the custom side of things.

I am not sure how it will void my warranty. The update is from Samsung OTA and its a meteor locked phone. This update was specifically for meteor phones. I did not use odin or anything like that for the update. Am I missing anything?

You are right about the pop up though. I got it couple of times as well but you also get a checkbox to mark as 'dont show it again for 30 days'.

Haven't noticed anything else or new as yet. Something may be there but I am not sure. So you might as well hold off the update.

I've had the update a few days now & I haven't noticed any major issues. I did have to re-pair my Bluetooth headphones & the Knox warning did appear when I reconnected to a wifi network, so I checked the ignore box. Massive oversight that it doesn't point out the offending app.

Other than that nothing seems amiss. Phone performance is definitely improved. Antutu agrees with me, so not just the placebo effect! ;-)

In saying all that, I have all the Samsung 'features' disabled, so that has probably helped me avoid the bulk of issues others are experiencing. I'm gonna hold out until the arrival of stable-ish CM11 nightlies, then I'm gone!

    Folks

I rooted by S4 when I first got it and flashed a recovery, haven't touch it since then, now I want to return it to stock and upgrade to 4.3, I have downloaded the same firmware I am currently on and flashed that (Used Triangle away before that) but my status is still showing custom and system updates says in can't update because it has been modified

Anyone else get this? I want to upgrade as I don't want to wipe and flash 4.3, just a pain setting everything up again

As far as I know you'll need to reflash a stock recovery.

I thought that would be part of the stock firmware that I am flashing

There's more to it. Try doing it through kies. If it doesn't work you'll have to flash a 4.3 rom from xda

Found a solution, installed Triangle Away and reset counter again, then went back into Triangle Away and ticked the "System modified workaround" option, rebooted and now it has found an update and is installing, hopefully this isn't just the start of my problems.

I think I spoke too soon, the update failed when it hit Clockwordmod recovery, so now I have to figure out how to restore the stock recovery, can't find much on it at all

Well I guess I won't be posting in this thread anymore. My S4 was stolen just over an hour ago on O'Connell St. :-(

Yeah I'm fine... it was a quick snatch and grab. Gutted, especially as it was a prize in a competition.

Don't really have the cash to replace it. Ohh well.

I only now found out that if I upgraded my bank account to a ufirst account and had the phone registered with my bank they would have replaced it for me for free.

    Godammit...

    I was reading about this software;

    http://lojackformobiledevices.absolute.com/

It seems to integrate with the firmware of the phone, making it that bit more difficult to remove. It's not cheap, but maybe worth it if there's a chance of your phone being stolen? I don't know anyone using it though.

Updated firmware this morning to android 4.3 and since then I cannot use T9 in text messages. Is there a way to get T9 with new update. Cant stand using QWERTY..:mad:

    Sorry to hear that.

It's happening all over the place. My wallet was snatched at around 9PM couple of months back in Dame street. Now I usually go into a shop or pub if I need to make a call in the evening. Dont want my S4 snatched.

Sure. Nothing works better than insurance fraud.

Yeah I didn't think so. I'll just cut my losses and buy a new phone come pay day. Boo.

Just wanted to report that since my 4.3 update (meteor), I've had a good few random restarts.

I am on 4.2 and If I don't turn off my phone every two days or so I won't get any messages or be able to make a call until I restart. Not really a big issue. I am rooted and am using a pre rooted stock rom so maybe it could be the rom causing the issue.

I am also on 4.3 (meteor) since last week. No random restarts on my phone.
