    Just can't understand why though?
Leaving the fraud aside and causing our premiums to go up, why didn't he/she just put the normal reg of the car on the disc?

i would suspect its being used on multiple vehicles

I dunno. Possibly, But if it's reliable, simple motoring for the next 14 months your after then possibly not.
If its a decent car, its def worth 700 with 14 months test.

to give the benefit of the doubt, he may have transferred over his insurance and is waiting on the new disc?
no idea why he put it in the ad though

It could be the case, but surely the details would line up at the very least?

everything is moved up one line, so might just be the printer in the insrance company?
can anyone make out the insurance company?

In Rovers case it's sh*te design that leads to hg failure. You can maintain them all you want, change the coolant every week, get the uprated hg fitted etc yet they will still blow head gaskets.

    Not that nonsense again.

Bought a 5 year old Rover 75 with the "dreaded" 1.8 K-series engine. Saved a good €3,000 straight away over similar condition / year cars just because it was a Rover with the K-series engine. Kept it for 5 years on an absolute shoe string. Car was very reliable, never had any head gasket or any other serious issue. Biggest repair bill was €80. At a main Rover dealer. Interior quality was poor though. And yeah, I know about the potential of the engine to blow its head gasket if you let it overheat. Just don't let it overheat, duh :)

Did I mention I saved myself thousands and thousands compared to owning a "reliable" car like a Toyota Avensis?

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

I hate the overtly biased attitude the K Series gets, both here and in most other locations both online and IRL.

I remember buying my rover 75 a few years back, hearing about the K series afterwards and then having a discussion here with yourself amongst others about how it is a generalization.

Ever work on the k series yourself? Did you ever take apart one of these engines? If you did you would realise it's not nonsense.

Just because you had no hg issues from your car doesn't mean that the vast majority of people didn't.

Also you don't have to let these engines overheat for them to blow a hg. Overheating will occur in some cases due to coolant leakage which will lead to hg failure.

However it's got nothing to do with maintenance or coolant leakage in most cases. they blow headgaskets under normal engine temperatures most of the time. It's the design of the head and the long bolt setup that is the main reason why the hg fails in these.

Still think Im talking nonsense? Look it up and prove me wrong.

Also it's not only hg issues they suffer from.

How com lotus k series engine gave no where near as many problems as rover?
Or did they get the good batch?

The engine is essentially the same in the lotus and as such it suffered from exactly the same hg issues as the Rover.

How did you come to the conclusion that the lotus doesn't suffer as much from hg issues?

Numerous owners on pistonheads. Which may be due to the rose tinted glasses of the posters.
You rarely hear of one who own the elise having problems with the hg, whereas when its put in a rover, its a big no-no.

Seems to be the consensus though that don't rev it beyond 3k rpm until its warm.

Might be a wee bit overpriced but has NCT 'til Nov next year, ad says it has full service history, looks well minded.
