I have one Bourbon County left. To be drank this month. Which means it might not be at it's best, but i bet it's still great.
'Twas one of the normal ones.

I have a barrel-aged O'Hara's and a Fran Well Jameson Stout put away as well, and a Bourbon County Stout. Be grand.

Ha, I have all 3 put away too, and Black Ball Porter and a couple of others.

It's a 15% Stout! If anything it should improve with age.

So I can leave it longer? I'm not in-the-know with this sort of thing. I'd like to leave it til' December.

When was it bottled/when did you buy it?

Generally the heavier/darker the beer, heading towards the higher end of the abv scale, it can be aged.

It's really hoppy beers that need to be drunk (drank?) fresh.

I can't see when it says it was bottled, only a Best Before 8/11/13. Bought it a few months ago.

I have one each of those put away as well for Christmas, as well as a 750ml bottle of the latest Brown Paper Bag offering and a 750ml bottle of Abt 12. :)

I'm starting the Christmas stash early this year! :D

Picked up two bottles of Rebel Red from Tesco just now to have with a batch of Buffalo Wings, wanted something nice and mellow so the hotwings could do the talking.

First bottle is pretty warm (maybe 15-18c) and to be honest, it's pretty "meh".

How much is Rebel Red in Tesco?

I've been drinking this for 6-7 years on and off. Am I the only one who has found the quality to vary pretty dramatically?

This aside from any recently perceived issues due to contract brewing, anti corporate hipster nonsense etc.

Had it on cask recently and it was very good though.

I've found this with friarweisse. 1 month it's great the next month it's meh. But then the next time it's good again. :(
I've found this with a few irish brewery's though which is a shame.

That's a good price. A euro cheaper than I paid. I know Tesco have that buying power, though.

There is no way I'd pay more than that for 330ml of a 4.3% Irish craft beer when I can get O'Hara's, GBB, Dungarvan etc for €3 for 500ml.

    3.50 for 330ml is extortionate.

Any chance of seeing the GBDIPA in ATG tomorrow night?

their bottling strategy is baffling, and losing them sales.

I think some of their beers taste lovely, and they work out cheap enough.

8 Degrees' Amber Ella and Howling Gale are two of my favourite beers, but I wish I could get them in 500ml bottles.

How do you know this? (and don't say that you don't buy them......)

Not to mention Hurricane and Cyclone, easily the two best IPAs on the Irish market.

8 Degrees are certainly not amongst my favourite Irish breweries and their 330ml bottles really do put me off. In the AIB/BOI interview with them though they said that their choice of bottle size was one of their most difficult marketing decisions.
