Ooooh! So much for the early(ish) night!

Really must remember to check BBC4 more often - I dread to think how much brilliant stuff I've missed out on.....

ah yeah, a lot of it gets repeated but it's great stuff.

I will start a BBC4/2/1 Music Programmes thread soon (unless someone else wants to do it!)

Dont worry, they repeat a fair bit.

The Killers on Jools. When they were good, they were really good.

Ah come on Skid. You've got a talent for that sort of stuff!

Edit: but then again, it's usually the best bit of the LLS thread! :-D

OK... very VERY random question here (can't believe I'm even putting it on the LLS thread but don't know where else to go with it)

Is anyone else watching BBC4? In between the Blondie programme and the guitar one, there was an ad about a BBC programme about Benjamin Britten.... anyone know what the music was that they used in that ad? Is it even Britten's? Or where I might find out? I was so caught up in the music, I never even noticed when the programme was due to be broadcast

    Hoping someone might know!

CmcG looked far from being confident, I thought he was like a rabbit in the headlights ****ting himself, hence the nonsensical babble, also I thought he looked as thin as a rake there must be a really lightweight class he 'fights' at, either way it was awful telly imo, but what's new eh
There's a reason the Americans went mad over him straight away, and a lack of confidence is most certainly not it. The guy is on the radar of much, much bigger people than Tubridy - UFC is pretty huge in the USA at this point. He's just a really hyper/high-energy character.

This is him between rounds in his last fight. He's not exactly the 'deer in headlights' type. No fighting for anyone wondering, just a classic little exchange!

That mad arrogance is surely part of that mad sport yer man "plays".

While i do hate fighting sports, i have to say fair play to him. Everyone else in it knows what it is.

And i'm in favour of anyone with that to say about Puff Daddy. Felt kinda proud to be honest.
Oh it's a huge part - while he's injured he's basically been keeping himself relevant by winding up everyone in his weight class. The guy only has 2 UFC fights and he's already a pretty strong commercial pull for them (though his style is highly exciting - not the ' UFC stereotype' you might expect at all).

    Didnt see it I'm afraid.

Good news is they usually play the same ads between shows.

I saw Len Brennan on Minder on ITV4 a few days ago, he was a Racehorse trainer.

    He hasn't changed a bit.

You address him by his proper title....ya little boll0cks! ;)

Well not so much that as tearing a knee ligament in the middle of his last fight, and going on to win it. Wasn't a "hard man" injury either in case you are wondering, it happened while he tried to shift from one position to another, as innocuous as a footballer doing in their hamstrings by trying to stop very suddenly.

I agree he's a bit -TOO- cocky for my liking at times, but that's part of the whole mentality in that sport, and that the US market is his main audience, not us... and they lap that s&!@ up. Hence why he is such a big draw over there despite only having 2 UFC fights and being in the middle of a 6-10 month layoff from said crucial injury.

The begrudgery on here from some is shocking, if not surprising.

Not sure Heidi, but it will probably be on this show next Thursday...

    Britten's Endgame
    BBC4 9:00pm Thu 14 Nov
Film-maker and writer John Bridcut explores the creativity of British composer Benjamin Britten in his twilight years. In defiance of medical advice, Britten raced to complete his final opera Death in Venice, tackling an edgy subject that resonated with his own life. He was left incapacitated and prematurely frail following a heart operation in 1973 after years of stress and illness, but rediscovered his creative urge to produce two late masterpieces. Featuring performances by mezzo Sarah Connolly, tenors John Graham-Hall and Allan Clayton and cellist Xavier Phillips among others

Thanks for that - I'd managed to dig that much up myself, and have set it to record - but having heard the music, I want it NOW :D Sounds so familiar, but I clearly haven't heard it in years and years and years.... I'll just have to hope it shows up in the programme!

Well done on the new thread - tagged already in my favourites :D

Have to say, guitar heroes is a bit of a let down.

Or to put it another way, any chance of some Led Zep?

yeah, I wouldn't have a whole lotta love for it :o

Not sure how much Robert Plant is going to be on the SNS tomorrow. The billing looks like he is there to support his wife. Hopefully not ...
Coming up on the show this week, Love/ Hate’s infamous dentist, actor Peter O Meara will be telling us about his journey to landing a part in one of Ireland’s most successful shows. Simon Delaney will be in for a chat ahead of his new panto starring Jedward and the boys will be in to perform a song from it. Top designer Joanne Hynes will be in telling us the very personal reason why her new collection is so important to her. Kevin Kennedy, AKA Curly Watts from Coronation Street fame will be discussing his battle with booze and we have a very special performance from Grammy winner Patty Griffin who will be accompanied by Robert Plant. Tune in at 9.50pm and enjoy!!

Christ on a bike, a dentist in love hate gets higher billing??

Man, feels like ten years gone since i've been trying to think of a reasonable response.

On the other hand at least i've heard of Gary Moore.

Being full of my own crap on the flagship TV show is not something I would ever aspire to.

Good luck to him if he's making a few bob out of it. (I won't knock anyone who can make cash out of fools), but he's hardly the box office material we used to get at the end of the Late Late Show).

Good luck to him if he makes the people who pay to see him happy.

Oh dear, you are embarrassing yourself.
    Step away from the keyboard.

I fell asleep during most of the LLS on RTE1+1 during last Friday.

I only nodded on & off between the first two guests Delaney & Amanda Holden. I didn't get up until after 3am as I was completely nackered by about 11pm.

I was seeing the Elvis programme on ITV before that. It was a decent one to look at.

    FFS!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I didn't read back to what you all wrote on Friday, but I'm just flicking around and flicked on to the LLS. Amanda Holden on, laughing.
I thought, "this looks ok, I'll give it a bash."

Within 2 F***ING MINUTES Tubridy has her speaking about all sorts of sh!t, and she is even saying.. "God, this is so depressing" - HE HOLDS ON TO THE STORY!!

Then she says "It's like a flippin' episode of Eastenders.." and Tubs AGAIN makes her continue...

Jesus wept. Honestly. This airs on a Friday night, as people are winding down from a hard weeks work, and yet every f**king week Tubridy drags out the most depressing sh!te.

I've been getting my head wrecked all day and night, and this just serves to make my blood boil. He should be gone a long time ago, but watching him entice and encourage the depression out of her is just disgusting.

I thought tubs was hilarious for the wrong reasons with Ranulph Fiennes. His researchers obviously saw him on Top Gear and tubs "expertly" steered him away from being interesting "so ranulph the sheer physical toll on your body from all the expeditions must have been brutal can you tell us more about the specific physical toll you experienced"

    TRANSLATED:
"Ranulph stfu and tell us the gory details ...chopping off your fingers and toes etc...quickly"
