From the start to the finish: (Car was bought from new)

    1) A/C continually blowing hot and cold
    2) Rear wheel bearings needed replaced after a few k miles
    3) A/C unit needed replaced
    4) EGR valve replacement
    5) DPF replacement
    6) Glow plus light periodically flashing indicating DPF sensors low (No issues found when brought in. codes cleared and now reoccurring)
    7) Strange noises from the dash when turning car (Had dash looked at but noises remain)

All this on a car bought from new and most before it had passed 50k miles. Fuel economy at teh start was quite good but snce the new parts have gone in it has dropped significantly.

(and yes, authorized Skoda dealers for all servicing and repairs. Regular services every 12-15k miles)
That's some list. Both my parents ones have been faultless. The 2011 has near 65k km on it total parts repair list so far one passenger DRL bulb(think it was about 1.50 euro) The 05 has got a set of cv joints that's it and they have that up on two years over 200k km on it now. I'm quite surprised because another 3 family members have that model octavia and none of them are ever in the garage for anything other than a service. Hopefully you will have better look with it in the future.

VW Bora SDI- Slow but loved that car, so reliable and chaep to run
Volvo S40 1.6d- Lovely car but costly repairs too regularly. Still never let me down though.
Opel Insignia SRI- Best car yet. Very safe, solid and powerful.

I love the GT86. I have it just over a year now and it still brings a smile to my face very time I drive it. A real fun car to drive. I do miss the turbo that I had in the TT though.

I'm only a few weeks short of 30 myself and my list has three cars so you're not alone.

Although I did really like two of them and hated the Astra.

    97 Fiat Cinquecento
01 Fiat Seicento - Great little car. Very nippy and could squeeze it in to any parking space
    04 Daewoo Lanos
05 Fiat Panda - the best car ever. If I didn't need tons of space I'd still have it
    08 Fiat Fiorino
    04 Fiat Stilo Multiwagon
02 Hyundai Santa Fe - only have it a week so still early days but like it so far

Bit of a Fiat fan. Love them

Me mature ? Getting older maybe but still like a child in a sweet shop when it comes to cars :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭Fat Nav

So what you're saying is you were young had a few quality cars got mature Omega and 318 then had a midlife crisis bought a 850/T5 then gave up on life and bought a Micra? :P.

Edit: sorry just seen it wasn't your list of cars my bad :o.

Sorry should of pointed out they were not in order and always have a couple of cars around at one time.

I had a spin in knifey_spooney's GT86 some time last year and they're really set up as a drivers car. Good handling, good feedback.

    Well wear.

87 Nissan Micra 1.0 (built like a tank & I will never forget my insurance on it cost £2400 punts)

00 Hyundai Accent 1.3 (or as I called it, Hyundai Accident)

03 Ford Fiesta 1.4lx (my first brand new car)

02 Ford Focus 1.6 lx (my boy racer car, big sub in the boot, bodykit & led lights underneath!)

05 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia (second & last brand new car, got bored with it after about 9 months)

03 BMW 316i se (did not like the seats in it)

04 Honda Accord 2.0 Sport (great car, but I gave it back to the bank under half rule as I owed more then it was worth)

02 Ford Mondeo 1.8 zetec (found it very underpowered)

00 Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport+ (Really smooth cvt transmission)

99 Saab 95 2.0T se (my time with this motor was cut short by dodgy torque converter, I plan on getting a Dame Edna era one as my next car)

03 Volvo S60 2.0T se (most comfortable seats I ever sat in)

    Currently driving these two

08 Chevrolet Epica 2.0 LS (moneypit)
05 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 (plenty of poke, but don't like the seats)

All were automatics & petrol powered. None of that smelly diesel in my driveway!
