Good things to say about this car: none

    1998 Volvo S40 2.0l

Ok car but nothing special. A bit thirsty and not that nice to drive.

    1998 Lexus Ls400 4.0l

    What a great car:)

My parents had one and I can say that, without a doubt, it is the worst heap of sh*te I have ever driven. The only redeeming feature was the large sunroof, but nothing could save this car. it is awful beyond any description.
My mother now drives a Renault Twingo and it is a VAST improvement on that heap of dung.

That's probably because he's stuck somewhere trying to get an engine out of a car and the car isn't willing.

I hope it is an engine (see 3 posts up) and not a turbo he's playing with...

    1998 Opel Corsa 1.0 Viva

I had it for a mere 5 months.

Fuel pump went, rear shocks were shot, roof leaked, fuel gauge didn't read right, handbrake didn't hold and the driver's seatbelt was pure dodge. Yet it was sold to me with a fresh NCT.

Cut my losses and got it scrapped. Now I'm a poor student who can only afford to be a named driver on my dad's car.

    Cinquecento 900cc on LPG?
    About 6l/100km rural driving (47MPG).
    And 8l/100km city driving (35MPG).

Costwise, as this was in Poland and LPG then (2003 - 2005) cost around €0.30 - €0.40, we are talking about €1.8 - €3.2 per 100km.

    What issues?

From the start to the finish: (Car was bought from new)

    1) A/C continually blowing hot and cold
    2) Rear wheel bearings needed replaced after a few k miles
    3) A/C unit needed replaced
    4) EGR valve replacement
    5) DPF replacement
    6) Glow plus light periodically flashing indicating DPF sensors low (No issues found when brought in. codes cleared and now reoccurring)
    7) Strange noises from the dash when turning car (Had dash looked at but noises remain)

All this on a car bought from new and most before it had passed 50k miles. Fuel economy at teh start was quite good but snce the new parts have gone in it has dropped significantly.

(and yes, authorized Skoda dealers for all servicing and repairs. Regular services every 12-15k miles)

First car:1977 Imported Citroen 2CV6 Special -student notions, have a habit of flipping over, though it's said they're hard to roll, not my one.
1978 Austin Princess 1800 HL . Very comfortable, and surprisingly reliable.
1979 Austin Princess 1700 HL Mk 2. A heap of rubbish, guzzled petrol water, oil and LPG (remember that!)
1980 Chysler Alpine 1.5 GLS. Good car
1983 Citroen GSA Pallas- great car
1983 Citroen BX 1.6 TRS , broke me!
1990 Citroen AX 1.1 TRE - cheap to run, fun car, small though.
1994 Citroen ZX 1.4 Reflex- good car
1998 Citroen Xsara 1.4 SX. Good car
2001 Citroen Xsara 1.4 SX first new car, ok
2004 Renault Megane Sport, couldn't wait to get rid of it, endless problems, all typical of the car, ðcideed never again to buy a new French car
2007 VW Passat 1.6 FSI Highline. Very reliable, comfortable, well equipped
2010 VW Scirocco 1.4 , best handling car, too small though
2011 Mercedes E class auto BlueEfficiency- incredibly cheap to run, quiet, comfortable, great motorway cruiser .
just traded in Merc for new Audi A3 saloon in January- remains to be seen
