If you can prove that shootings in the US making up more than 5% of the threads on after hours, I'll give you €100.

Because there isn't a ****ing chance in hell that it's even close to 100th of 1%.

    Huh?

I'm not making the argument that Video games and TV cause shootings - read what I said, I'm talking about people slamming US gun culture whilst without a blink gobbling up fictional representations of it.

That's the cultural dissonance being tuned out.

Bull****. I love having little chats with you on here because you start in a position and then lie, misrepresent, throw around idiotic comparisons and contradict yourself as things go on, it's wonderful really.

By your same logic the fact that I have an interest in WWII means that for me to dislike the fact that it happened is me showing some kind of dissonance?

If she was with other people at least ONE of the reports would have stated as much.

    Which reports?

There's been a very limited release of information from the police and all the other information has been from the family (hardly an unbiased source of information now is it?)

So go on.....based on the FACTS there is absolutely no telling what's happened.

It's entirely possible that this girl was an innocent victim.....just as it's entirely possible she wasn't

    According to MadsL's article

    :pac:

Oh, I was going by the UNODC's figures.

Which actually gives Ireland a murder rate of 1.2 per 100,000.

"The Republic had 1.59 murders per 100,000 people"
Compared to the US, 4.7 murders per 100,000, that's pretty ****ing good going.

This thread isn't about murder rate, it's about a teenage girl being shot in the head after knocking on someones door.

    right....hang on...now

Can we get this straight? Which was it?

Will I go back to Wikipedia and drag up the numbers for Greenland again?

Someone's ignorance of a foreign country's laws could hardly be described as 'staggering'. Just because you have some kind of bizarre hard-on for the US (to the extent of jumping to its defence when some random punter on the internet slags it off??) doesn't mean anyone else on this forum should be expected to.

It is staggering when they claim to have knowledge of those laws and are in fact almost entirely wrong.

It's far more probable that she is innocent.

Of gun related threads. People care more about gun crime in the US than elsewhere.

I was responding directly to Mad's post where the tried to paint Ireland as some sort of killing field compared to the US, and pointing out he's talking nonsense as always.

While you're getting the stats for Greenland there, find out how many of the were firearm related, because then it might be ****ing relevant to the thread.

    possibly....who knows....

    But you know what Seanie?

Out here...in the real world, with the grownups....we like to deal with FACTS....rather than suppositions.

But you just continue with your mindless hysteria and unfounded nonsense.

I'll be over here minding my own business.

More if you were to utterly despise British imperialist culture but had a weakness for the film Zulu. ;)

That's because gun crimes are more common in the US than in any other developed country in the world, genius.

I agree with you wexie. The police will spin it in favour of the shooter.

Tell me more about those States that do not require background checks as we are bringing up nonsense.

As we know people never get shot in Ireland, nor do they own guns.

How much more common? More common than all others put together? I see very little gun crime threads that aren't related to the US. People don't care as much if the US isn't involved

The thread is about a gun related death.

Gun related deaths are relevant to the thread.

Typical ****e of shifting goalposts and trying to rail road the topic into irrelevance to suit an agenda.

Not in this thread yet. Funny that you don't address the rest, at least you're honest.
More if you were to utterly despise British imperialist culture but had a weakness for the film Zulu. ;)
So would you like to explain how exactly watching The Sopranos or playing GTA (originally primarily made by a UK company don'tchaknow) somehow undermines a dislike or distaste for actual (i.e., real-life) gun culture and high murder rates?

Actually, for the amount of firearms owned in Ireland, compared to the US, practically nobody gets shot, you're right there.

What agenda would that be Seanie?

Go on....enlighten me as to what my agenda is?

I would love to hear it from you in those clear and concise statements you're so good at.
