Will that mean that Corrie, Emmerdale, X factor, Dancing on Ice, I'm a Celebrity etc will no longer be on TV3?

I hope they show smutty european arthouse movies in the early hours like channel4 and tv3 used to do.

Given that, apparently, TV3 have come close to going bust a few times, is this a viable business?

It will be when they swallow up TV3.

They should have a station called TV Kenny where all the broadcasts and advertisements venerate our leader.

Devote the entire station to Vincent Browne, a 24 hour fly on the wall documentary where he roasts politicians alive in his secret dungeon.

Its amazing how TV shows that are shown simultaneously on another channel are so important to a channels wellbeing. Seems like a risky enough business model to me.

Not commercially viable. Considering the righteous howls of indignation that emerge from most of the drones around here when RTE and the TV licence are mentioned, I couldn't see that getting very far.

TV3 should produce their own soap about travellers. They can call it 'mobile home and away'.

You could argue the TV license should be used to pay for non commercial viable TV and let advertising pay for the popular stuff.

Maybe we should call it The Utterly Amazing Channel with like, amazing things on it :pac:

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Ideally yes. But I dont think we'll ever have an Irish equivalent of BBC 3 or 4

Ideally this would allow TV3 to focus more on good home-grown programming as it can't compete on the soap front. Unfortunately, most of their home-grown programming tends to be complete garbage.

Both of the people who watch broadcast TV will be dead by 2015.
