The most shocking this thread has thought me is the fact anyone thinks these jobs will be filled from people on the dole.

I cant see an army getting behind Enda Kenny for some reason. He is not exactly a leader. AS i said the only reason he got in there was because he was the only option. Kinda like Paul Blart Mall cop, with less charisma.

The only thing he has done well was cover up the protests against him.

With regards him getting Ireland out of the bail out. Yes it was under his leadership but none of it was his idea or guidance. He offered nothing but take take take from the people. Anybody could come up with that solution.

Doubt anyone in the Government had much a of a say in the bailout.

    Enda, where are you?
You say that in a messing way, but there's truth in it.

When the government claim a positive, they're chastised for "milking it" and hijacking it. When a negative occurs, immediate blame goes on the government.

It's a double standard. If they're going to be blamed for every single job loss announcement, then they should be allowed to claim every job creation announcement.

Or, we could be sensible and pin the blame/credit on the individual causes rather than linking everything to government policy. But that's no fun...

They love a bit of ohhhhh "25 jobs created this month" YAY

But for every 25 created a month, about 1000 jobs get axed. But they never say anything about that

This is Dublin 2013 the flashy tech capital of Europe,

    we have no fresh water

Most of the drinking water will be flushed down the toilet

Every politician makes promises they can't keep.

I agree the digital capital accolades in relation to Ireland are questionable, but water disruption happens - and can happen anywhere; that's why there are emergency teams working on it.
They just love giving out - they know a pop at Kenny & Co. will be a popular move on here so it's a handy way to accrue 'Thanks'.
It's the generic default viewpoint by the unthinking.
Inside however, they welcome the 350 jobs and they don't really care that Enda Kenny is happy. And on this note, I'll depart from the thread as I'm pretty sure the AH Negativity Brigade will be on the prowl for another cheap '10 Thanks' by attacking my post in some sarcastic way that will probably also involve burning the bankers as part of their analysis.
They might even throw the devastating "You must be a FG voter" line at you.

Yes we do...again it's just been limited, and only between certain hours, not 24/7.

Lets stop acting like we are in the middle of a drought.

So you think cafés and restaurants are not affected by this ?? In case you don't know the answer , of course they are affected , they are losing business because of it so don't be so trivial just because you don't need fresh water between 11pm - 6am doesn't mean that nobody should need water at that time !

Where are you getting those figures from? We're seeing net job growth for the last few months AFAIK.

Peple slam politicians for every little grievenace in their lives.

And then slam politicians for celebrating good news.

Seriously, when it comes to politics, Irish people are children.

If the politicians are cynical you can't blame the public for reacting in the same way.

Just had an 2 hour long drive and any radio station i put on kenny was milking the bejaysus out of the news of 335 jobs been created

Dont get me wrong its nice that possibly 335 ppl could get off the dole but surely celebrating this in the way they do is just desperation or political advertising

A while back the minister was at my place of work milking 200 jobs...6 weeks later they were let around 50 ppl go

Do you agree that he well and truely has the milking machine on any good news he can hop on

Politician in "Acts like a politician" shocker!!

Of course not and I never said otherwise.

What I did say, if you'd actually read my post, was that we don't have no water during those times, just a limited supply.

Again no drought and no-one's fault.

Just back from the Web Summit. As an emigrant from Ireland, I must say it was a massive success. The food summit stalls were a stroke of genius. So many innovative food producers firing out wonderful locally produced food at the moment. Irish cheese, meat, bread and beer are as good as most of us delegates have tasted.

The Government need to promote the Web Summit. Feel-good factor is at an all time high. Dublin is about to become a wonderful place!

Alright go on, how's in the same league as those two?

Well, since you asked - here's a post I made earlier referring to his announcements that he's going to reform the Welfare system, but most of it applies here too:
    Enda Kenny...

    - the man who reneged on virtually every pre-election promise the minute he got into power

    - who has been more concerned with being a "good European" than representing the people who put him there

    - who refuses point blank to debate outside the Dail and even there can't do it without resorting to petty name-calling or deflection tactics about whose party did what (as if ANY of the current parties have a spotless history)

    - who's had several members of his party turn against him

    - who 2.5 years on is STILL blaming FF on almost a daily basis

    - who just had his pet-project referendum on abolishing the Seanad defeated, quite possibly due to the above arrogance and sending Bruton out to do the job for him

    - who has a health minister (and party colleague) with apparently less maths ability than Cowen and Bertie having his competence openly questioned by TD's and the media

.. has suddenly decided he's going to be the one to sort out the welfare system?? A guy who has been in "public service" since 1975 and was "double-jobbing" himself for 30 years.

And you people believe it? It didn't occur to you that this might just be another populist attempt to win back his core voters after the 2 latest fiascos? An attempt to distract from these rather embarrassing issues, especially with the local/Euro elections coming up?

Oh and let's not forget Enda's idea of "incentivising" is to push young people back into their parents home (assuming the parents can afford to keep them that is!) or onto a plane. Or extending the massively-abused "Job Bridge" scheme to 18 months - but hey, if it reduces (hides!) the true extent of the problem then sure why not!

I give up. Yes of course Welfare needs to be reformed, but if anyone believes this cardboard cut-out of a "leader" who can't do anything without a prepared speech in front of him, is going to enact any meaningful change then I think you're in for a big disappointment!

Oh and speaking of jobs/live register figures etc in general, here's another interesting thread (over on politics.ie) I read yesterday:
Remember the figure I told you to remember at the top of the post? You know the figure of people come of the live register from September to October?

    12,158

How many people forced onto Work Activation Schemes?

(Persons on activation schemes are not counted as part of the monthly live Register)

    12,661

And that my friends is how you do Spin!

Yeah being inept, surviving a heave, being a "good European" (?) is definitely in the same league as Haughey. Definitely.

Let's get that man Bertie back, he was a real smooth talker and shaked it with the big guns.
