This is the hitter right here.

There is not one, not one single person reading this, who would lease a property to Roma, or who would not be more suspicious of Roma moving next door than they would be of a family of any other race. There will be hypocrites talking out of their holes in this thread who are uneasy with this fact about themselves.

Your psychic powers both amaze and terrify me.

And your blatant hypocrisy amuses us all. Just because you are as suspicious of Roma and travellers as the rest of us doesn't make you a bad person.

The Bulgarians do not like the Roma, or should I say those whom they refer to as Gypsies.
They feel that they flood into Bulgaria and get all the hand outs (sound familiar).

They have totally taken over some villages and have created shanty enclaves in some of the bigger towns.
Horses wander freely around the estates and piles of scrap litter the green areas.
    (Sound familiar)
The Real Estate agents will encourage you to buy in certain villages stating that they are not "Gipsy Villages"
The last straw was when they became the Grandfathers of the local mafiosa.
Having said that some of these are employed in the villages as bar personnel, while more are engaged in the construction industry carrying out repairs and extentions.
They are well received in those respects.

    Thats just not true.

I would lease a property to Roma
I wouldn't be more suspicious of Roma neighbours.

I know many others who would think like me.

I'm sorry that you want to paint all Irish people as racist but we are simply not.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Some people clearly do lease properties to Roma, and they may be reading this thread. And any Roma reading this - astonishingly, some of them can read - might even be glad to have Roma neighbours.

    Shhhh

Let him pretend everyone in Ireland is racist.

I'm right wing at the best of times but this is flat out intolerance, trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. If they are trying to raise social issues at the very least they could try and not put it in such a discriminatory, insensitive tone. Idiots.

I like straight talking. I think we've suffered more than enough ten years back, let alone to prospect of being unable to report WHO robbed me for PC correctness.

Interesting to see how a newspaper owned by a man who made his fortune in porn can develop such a sense of outrage at the drop of a hat.

Did he shanghai people into his clubs and pick their pockets as they queued up?

Why does the article not mention descriptions of who is suspected of doing it?

My money is on Spanish students or Canadian backpackers myself....

I don't think he ever ran any clubs, did he?

However, here's an anecdote about his modus operandi which has a few interesting insights into how British business works:
According to [an October 2012] of current affairs and satirical magazine Private Eye, British newspaper publisher and owner ofChannel 5 TV station Richard Desmond has been accused of verbally assaulting a schoolboy.

Apparently, the boy – who was on a work experience placement – sat at his desk in the Channel 5 offices eating a packet of crisps when Desmond entered the building.

The publisher, ranked as one of the country’s richest businessman, snatched the bag from the young teen’s hands and blasted: ‘You’re here to work, not stuff your face, you fat c**t!’

Although the boy burst into tearsand ran out of the building, he still enjoyed the last laugh as the placement had been arranged as afavourfor his father, a senior executive at a top advertising agency.

After the man heard his son’s story, all adverts for Asda supermarkets – one of the lucrative contracts that keep Desmond’s empire in business – have been removed from the publisher’s Daily and Sunday Star and Daily and Sunday Express titles until further notice.

I suppose we should not go too much off track here as regards Romanians, people from
    Romania,
.... and Roma who are an ethnic race who are believed to have originated in India.
    Romanians are citizens of Romania.

Roma are the race known as Romany also and they are the Gipsy race.

In fact Romania accounts for just 3.25% of Gipsy Roma population, whereas Bulgaria accounts for 4.67% and the UK , even though they do not know about it account for 0.15%.

East Europeans tend to have a strong dislike towards them, with good reason. The majority of them are quite simply not very nice people, and it is hilarious to see folks here claim they have no pre judgments about them.

He did of course make his fortune from soft porn.
In similar fashion, and as part owner of the Irish Daily Star he almost closed the Irish Star over Kate Middleton's t☆★s.
INM did the proper thing and basically got rid of him.

Are you talking about the Romanians now or are you talking about the Roma who are the
Gipsy race who have very little to do with Romania or Romanians.

The most unfortunate thing that happened to that country was in 1858? Or thereabouts that it was named Romania, after the Romans and was then consigned to be forever associated with the Roma Gipsy race

    The Roma I meant.

A great deal of actual Romanian women are quite attractive from what I've seen.

what BS are you talking, if someone robbed you its irrelevant where their from or their race, crime is crime, the myth that is PC has nothing to do with the fact that some papers won't report race or origine of a criminal, just as well as some will make out that the crime is worse because it was "de forteners" who done it

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

I know full well the problematic aspects of Roma culture and I don't deny them, but this obnoxious campaign is just naked hate.

But it is not directed against the Roma it is directed against the Romanians.

    The Roma are not Romanians.

I reckon that the Romanians should have an annual lynching day where they hang effigies of those who named the country Romania in 1850? Something and thus consigned the Romanian people and country to be wrongly associated with the Roma, Romany Gipsy Race.
I believe it was Alexander Cuza
