Last qualifying comp on my home course has likely been played so will post an update!

Mission accomplished as far as getting to and exceeding my ambitions of a return to 2 is concerned. A good finish to the year helped a lot.

All the good work could still be undone with a few planned games in Portmarnock Links, where 0.1's are still in operation, but hopefully will keep the handicap in check through the winter.

Right back were I started. Only looked up how many qualifying comps I played this year, a total of 9 with 3 cuts and 6 * 0.1 back. Them numbers aren't going to get me down. Need to forget about the interclub comps next year.

Reasonably happy with this seasons progress, a very poor 2 month spell probably cost me reaching my goal but have gone from 17.7 to 10.9 in around 18 months.

Was just looking at this and thought to myself that 9.5 was a kind of wierd goal to have for myself. Checked back and my original goal was 9.0. Makes more sense.

I've almost maxed out my shot-back quota this year. Not too pleased with a 2 shot drift from 8 to 10 - but with no practice and zero casual golf played it's a fair reflection of where my golf is at.

22 qualifiers this year, 20 x 0.1's, I clause 19 cut of 0.2 & one buffer. Dismal!

hanging on for dear life to 18. Have had four weeks just outside the buffer to bump up the 0.1's. This weekend was supposed to be a qualifying competition but think it will get pulled to winter rules at the very least so might avoid picking up the final 0.1 to take me to 19

So, now that qualifying comps are pretty much a thing of the past around the country, how about some closing summary stats !!!

154 people took the time to think about a 2013 season golf goal and log it on here
55% of us managed to provide an update (so far) after logging the initial goal

Of the 55% that provided an update :
27% (23 people) achieved their own personal goal for the year, based upon those that provided updates
59% (50 people) made some improvement towards their goal
14% (12 people) didn't make a dent this year and have been going in the wrong direction

I was looking at the table last night to calculate how many of us lost or gained shots in the counting comps year. I noticed that only 24 golfers (15%) have recorded scores\changes in the last 2 months. In all likelihood this makes the table out of date for 85% of golfers.

Well those two cuts were all I got up until last few weeks. So ended as:

Anyway the single figures call was madness in retrospect. It came off the back of my best ever round and I never got near that form again bar 4 days when I got cut 2.4 for two comps.

12 was really a more realistic target so just missed out. Anyway I'm hoping a good winter of practice and lessons and aim is to hit 12 first qualifying comp of 2014

As for next years goal....well let's wait a while for that

Lost my swing in the second half of the year and to add insult to injury the .5 esr I received was rescinded as it was incorrect.
On a positive note at least I know what was going wrong and I'll come back stronger next year because of it.
Well done to everyone who acheived their targets and roll on next year for those who didn't!!

Well qualifying is done in my place for the year so I guess I should finalise my results, I failed miserably to hit my target

Best I can say is that I'm finishing the year with a handicap lower than what I started with (by 0.1

)

Lowest I hit was 11.0, highest was 12.2

Ah well, theres always next year!!!

Made reasonable progress this year even if the handicap doesn't really reflect it, bad rounds are considerably better than the previous year, still a lot of work to do.

small progress handicap wise but first 6 months was crap so 1 Sunday win and a much improving swing makes me feel good heading into winter....
