When you drove the 406 did you go like this

I couldn't believe how fast it was at the last meet:D I'll never forget Pred's evil hysterical laugh when he was driving it:P

I did, I'm not the fastest driver out there so dgt kept telling me to put the foot down and get it over 3k revs and it was fun. The little exploding noises it made freaked me out :D

Heard a new noise in the car today when I had the window open. There's a feint ticking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel area. Sounds kinda like "tick tick tick... tick tick...". Not that loud and sounds a bit like a clock. Any ideas?

Does it stop when you brake?

I drove it for about ten mins, once I relaxed, it was good fun!

Toasted was saying how low the gtv is on revs, so dgt telling me to welly the revs was a bit alien.

Was really lovely to meet the guys and have a go in other cars.

166man apparently is in for a bit of abuse regarding his gtv versus mine :D

Mine did do over 800 miles this week :D

Is that the pizza guy? we were just talking about pred fumigating him today!

You know what, I can't say how much I appreciate toasted being good enough to meet me en route to dgts, and how nice they both were sorting out my wheel nuts.

Really nice pair of guys, I did nothing apart from keep the gazebo on solid ground, real pleasure to spend a bit of time with fellow car lovers.

They were also really good and never once made me feel old. Apart from the time they decided pred and I would be a good pair of ould grannies at the next meet :D

It could be the top of your front strut is a little loose, this happened me and it was the sound you described. tick tick tick.

I have now been told I will be banished if I fail to attend the next meet :)

Edit: Forgot to add that I got to drive the smoke machine :D

Delighted to have you over :D poor mr pickles nearly took off with the gazebo, clinging on for dear life :pac:

Cheers again for the spin in the GTV, a lovely machine to lots of mileage in! :D and that individual was fairly green.... As green as his ornament :pac:

Weird. Is that an easy fix?

I'll do some test drives tomorrow to try determine when it's happening.

If its your front strut it will be a tinny rattle when you go over sharp bumps.
Yours sounds like a stone in the tyre, check if the frequency increases as you accelerate.

So odd driving in to work this morning for 3 reasons
    -work on a bank holiday
    -no traffic at all
-journey took 15 mins instead of the usual 30+

So, after my truck purchase fell through after 5 weeks of on and off negotiations and failed DOE tests, here is my next venture

    Have you bidded yet?

Exactly. There are a list of problems, but they are disclosed already. Confirmed no lights on dash etc and waiting for a video of startup and engine running to confirm. But I reckon for €1500-2000 purchase price it is way cheaper than what I would have gotten in Ireland (even without a DOE and with work needing to be done)
Awaiting shipping cost quote but should be in the same region as purchase price (1-2k) I would assume. Then there is VRT+VAT to be accounted for.

I'm assuming that revenue wont have a bulls clue what an F350 is (as it doesnt seem to be on any insurance company's dropdown list) so I will get stung with the 36% (unless I can get the commercial 13.3% ??)

    Yup, highest bidder. Why?

be an ebay shark and dont bit until the last minuet ?

or however the pros do it !

    Coolio. Oh just curious. :)

I suspect you have not thought about full logistics with shipping - it's the pacific north west which is probably about as awkward for European shipping as possible.

it is a silent auction site. In theory everyone should enter their max bid and then the highest bidder wins.
However because it doesnt work that way, I (like everyone else it seems) put in a sounding out bid at the start and then a real bid with 5-10 seconds left

Like I said, I'm waiting for the quotation from the shipping company
The seller said he used them to ship to Germany from his location and they were the cheapest so I'll see what they say.
If not, the reserve isnt met anyway so no sale yet. :)

It is the US, plenty of F350s (and pickups in general) so I am not tied to this one.

The shipping must be a killer on that.

They take length and width into consideration when shipping a vehicle, that won't be cheap, there is Duty and Vat which will be price of car + shipping price and VRT to be considered, I would say the final landed price would be about 7k based on what I went trough.

    7k € or $?
If it is €7k that would be the upper limit of what I would be prepared to pay (even resulting in me not driving it for a while) but certainly do-able.

Ill wait till the shipping company come back to me. The taxes are the killer

Thanks for the feedback btw, interesting to hear from someone who has gone through it before (albeit from the east and not the west :P )
