Yes I know 'buyer beware' and all that, but when you have the guy at the desk repeatedly telling you it's unlimited from now (5th jul) until 1st sept (to other people also), it's pretty hard to refuse that offer. There was no promotional material available at that point either so logging on to their website or calling head office to confirm, wasn't something that sprung to mind. Anyway, I guess I'll know next time :-(

They should bring back this offer once the evenings get longer if they have any marketing brain anyways

    +1

I spent a tremendous amount in sweets and rubbish for the kids while picking/dropping vids

I rented 13 films in the 31 days. Great value for €20.

Found myself renting films I'd missed over the past year or so. Some great films that I'd probably not have gotten round to renting without the offer.

I'm not liking the look of my local store (Wicklow) over the past few weeks though. A lot of bare shelves and stock levels look to be dwindling. Hope it's not gearing up for a closure!

If they're bringing it in again, it would have to be by October at the lastest/

Jay-sus, took up the last offer and I felt like I watched every movie in the store!

Great deal if you have a store local to you and movies I didn't get time to watch I found there was no problem walking into the store and handing over the movie and saying that you wanted to rent it again, never tried it with games but I guess it'd be the same.

Over 3 and a half years I worked there up until recently, I like to think I have their plan of action sussed.

The rental selection in Blanch is dismal.

Unless it improves it wouldn't be worth my while. there isn't any old movies or a back catalogue to rent either.

Back catalogue is just taking up valuable selling space I'd imagine. Hanging onto rentals beyond say 12-18 months is a bit useless I'd imagine.

Where Xtravision were extremely bad were keeping 'new releases' at full price for around 12 months. They could have done much better if they had it like Chartbusters were their 'new releases' price was for I think 10 or 12 weeks with the lowered price plus as part of a 3 for 2 night €8 I think offer after than. And their back catalogue was pretty brutal in my local shop, virtually everything was on TV and I'd imagine not much renting of those was going on.

The rental section in Xtravision is only about 30 titles. Thats a very limited selection. Its probably only 5% of the shelf space in that store. Seems to be only a few of the most recent releases. Maybe they are just restocking.

No. I think its a change of direction. More selling and less rental space. Back catalogues were a waste of space anyway.

They've bumped up the price but you get a copy of a One Direction album, no matter who you are or what your listening /watching preferences are?

    What's the logic to that?

Its directed at getting a younger cohort of customers in the door who otherwise buy their music/entertainment online.

But why inflict it on everyone else? That CD will literally go in my bin, and the fiver would probably have been spent on high margin popcorn etc

I am not disagreeing with you. If they provided 3 or 4 choices that would be better in my book. But you and I are clearly not the one's that this offer is aimed at.

I have a feeling this deal will not be as successful as the original summer pass.

I'm gonna pass anyway. I wouldn't feel right laughing in the member of staffs face when they offered me the One Direction DVD.
