Butane Torch about €11 incl postage (excluding the butane gas) from ebay
    http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231049509160

Want to get into my micro and nano coil building so it's now a neccessity to get one.

Where can I get some 1.6mm(?) and 2.5mm and 3mm Kanthal all at once for a reasonable price and **** all shipping.

I want to start building various ohm'age coils but all I have in abundance is 0.2mm Kanthal. Cheers!

For a nanocoil like RipTripper shows in his videos, you need 28 gauge Kanthal.
    0.2mm = 32 Gauge (AWG32)
    0.32mm = 28 Gauge.

3mm would keep hungry cattle out of a meadow ! :-)

    Vaperus have you covered:)

Well I live in a town with many farmers in it actually I could probably ask around my local for some 3mm cattle wire!

But yea, yer right, it's probably better to use the .3mm kanthal than 3mm cattle wire  Thanks Pique you also saved me from making mega coils and thinking wtf is this not working like in the videos :D

What's the point of a microcoil? Is it more surface area hitting the juice so you get more vapour? I'm using 32 gauge, 3/4 wraps giving me about 1.9 ohms, I'm using ego batteries though so I can't drop the Ohms too low.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

More surface area, better heat distribution, no hot legs, easier to clean and rewick. Many benefits.

Some say they're able to raise their ohms and get the same results as a low-ohm but I stuck with the same ohms and just have more of everything. Could be dependent on whether or not that person is a 6-7w single coil vaper, I'd usually be 9-10w per coil.

The idea with nano and micro coils is that you get sub ohm performance at higher ohm'age. So say you wrap a 1.5 ohm micro coil it will perform like a 1.0 ohm regular coil but won't eat as much battery.

I've only ever used a micro coil once (someone else made up for me) with some cotton and at the time it was the most vapour I'd gotten out of any device ever. Like three second drag Id' still get a really nice big impressive ploom. I haven't had enough experience with them to really say yet, but my first impression was definitely enough to make me go out and buy a blow torch so I can experiment with nano coils in protanks and evods.

edit: Ah yip like Grindle says above me one of the cool things about them is that you can easily rewick them especially if you're using cotton. So this would be especially awesome for a dripper like the IGO and testing juices. You can make a micro coil, slip in a cotton wick, then drip and taste. When you want to swap to another juice, just pull out the cotton wick and slip in a new one. No wrapping and screwing down and rechecking ohms and all that ****e :)

No hot legs is another really great advantage as I've had the hot leg issue in the past and it can end up kinda burning the juice and giving you a not so nice hit.

Plus they just look cool :) Especially the way they heat up when you dry burn them.

I must try making one over the weekend, my mini protanks are sitting idle most of the time. I've been using cotton in my dripper for a while now and its great, the coil lasts me a few weeks and like you said I just pull out the cotton when it gets all black and nasty.

What I'm doing these days is putting in 5 or 6 drops of tobacco and then adding a drop or two of swedish fish or something else sweet, much better than the bland flavour I was getting from protank heads.

I got an Innokin itaste VV today for my birthday. Still getting my head around the settings and trying it out. I've only used disposible ones before but I'm looking to get off the smokes so I'm giving this a try.

What did you get with it? Iclear 16s?

Set it to wattage mode (P6.5 or what ever it is set to will appear in the display) and take it up to about 7.5 try that for a bit, then try 8.0. Keep going until you are happy.I rarely use the variable voltage setting.

There's a thread on here about this battery. Several of us use it and are very happy with it.

Cheers, will try that. Yeah it's the iclear 16. Have only the one though, how long til it needs changing roughly?

The clearomiser will last indefinitely, the head maybe a week or so I think. I've never used the iclear, but it is well regarded. You can buy new heads, or you can dry burn and clean them to get longer life.

Google dry burn iclear 16 and there will be a YouTube video on how to do it.

This forum is a great place for advice on juices, clearomisers etc.

Remember to "twiddle" with the iClear16, The coils are at the top so a good idea to get in the habit of turning the iTaste upside down after a vape, the wicks alone do not feed the coils fast enough if you are vaping heavy.

As Fred says you can wash and dry burn them, think about getting something like a minipro tank 2 for it though, I was using the iClear 16's, moved on to the miniprotank and think it is way better.

Thanks, these are the kinds of things you'd expect a user manual to cover, but it's mostly useless beyond telling you what the buttons do.

I agree, I went through several clearomisers that would have lasted way longer if I had known a few tips. There is great advice to be gleaned on here though, some of the posters have been through generations of devices and there is very little they don't know. :)

Yeah I was aware of this forum and now that I have one, I'll probably trawl through some threads. Thanks for the starter tips!

Today I ordered some juice concentrate for mixing, a few bottles and more syringes

Going to pick up a 5/64th drill bit this evening as used by RIP Trippers making those micro coils

Still waiting on some 28 awg kanthal and ribbon kanthal to be delivered

    Also ordered a Trident rda

Am on the lookout for a good original mech mod and cant seem to find any I must not be looking in the right places, That grand Vapour Sentinel on ESI is the only thing appealing to me at the moment but is not quite what im looking for

I got my protank 2 and some twillight juice. Also got some 28 gauge kantal to make replacement coils. I'm gonna try a vertical coil on the mini protank. There's claims that it's awesome, once setup correctly :D.

How are you getting on with the VTR and where did you order it, vaperus? I'm strongly considering getting one.

Tried vaping last year but never really caught on, now desperate to give up the cigarettes so I'm back :)
    Today I ordered!

    eroll-0003 Joyetech Eroll - Silver
    1 €51.75 €51.75
    Aftermint-0003 After 10 Thin Chocolate Mint - 10ml - 20mg
    1 €4.50 €4.50
    Menthol-0003 Extreme Menthol - 20mg - 10ml
    1 €4.50 €4.50
    cofcream-0003 Coffee Cream - 18mg - 10ml
    1 €4.00 €4.00
    americanb-0001 American Blend - 18mg - 10ml
    1 €4.00 €4.00

Hoping the eroll is what I have been looking for, something small but powerful... Am a bit lost when it comes to the juice, I suppose you just have to keep trying until you find something that suits you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭dePeatrick

I think the joytech eRoll is the same as the evolve which I have tried and was very surprised at how good it was. The reviews are certainly good. As for the juices, what tasted amazing at the start is well just ok now, with my taste buds working again the taste changes so have decided to pick up a lot more juices and a dripper at vapefest so I can change juices frequently.

Not to sure anymore just how addicted to nicotine I am tbh.....used to wake up and first thing I would think of was a cigarette, these days first thing I think of is coffee....seem to be settling into having a vape with coffee in the morning and it does not seem to matter again until lunchtime, then in the evening I do not do any serious vaping until I relax with a movie/book/vino.

I'm wondering this myself today. Ever since I got down to 6mg of nic, I'm not sure if it's just habit now or a nic addiction.

I know i'd be climbing the walls this time last year if I hadn't any fags, but at the moment, not having my vape isn't that big of a deal.

Might try 0mg juice if I can get it, see if it's more of a habit.

Yeah, it's funny Jamie, have gone to town shopping and forgot my e-cig no less than twice and was fine without it both times, if I had forgotten my cigarettes when smoking there is absolutely no way I would have lasted 2-3 hours without a cigarette.

Been reading up on it and it does seem that nicotine is merely a part of the addiction with other chemicals having a role to play too, there is even the suggestion that nicotine itself is not addictive at all. People do not get addicted to Nicorette or patches after all.

    http://www.ecigarette-politics.com/is-nicotine-addictive.html

I am sure there is an element of bias in the article but I know that the tobacco companies are 100% biased. :D

Edit: Just to add, I know one person who is vaping away everyday on zero nicotine and has been for some time.

Well some do, in-spite of the NRT being designed not to be addictive. But again we cant tell if it a habit or fear of relapse that drives this 'addiction'.
Anyway is addiction a bad thing, why do we assume its a form of harm on it's own. I get the whole bad to be a slave to someone else but in the world we live in a bit of nic addiction is the least enslaving thing we engage in.

Oh, do they? I did not know that :o Would you put nicotine alongside coffee, red bull, chocolate etc, all things people indulge in, contain psychoactive chemicals and people feel cravings for? It does make the word addiction look a bit silly when applied to them all right :)
