    Remind me what your injury was Darren, it seems to have set you back quit a bit to be considering pushing Marathon out to 2015?

    Even before the marathon the plan was to do shorter races then do the marathon the following year.

    Injury is getting better, how are you getting on?

    Finally got out for a run. As expected my fitness level has dropped a lot but delighted to get back out.
    I have been thinking a lot about next year's DCM I will see how my training goes until the club is looking for members to do the marathon.

    So I have a few races in mind for next year mostly 5 and 10k races and Dublin Race Series.

    Samsung 10k
    Great Ireland Run
    Boyne 10k
    Bohermeen 10k
    The Longest Day 5k

    Apart from the injury I think I had a good year, The best race that stood out for me was Fingal 10k with a pb of 46:40 never thought Id hit that time.

    Thanks to every one who took the time read my log and gave feedback,
    Anyway hope everyone has a great new year.

    Yearly total distance 707.52

    2014

    Hope everyone had a great New Year, I was looking at my own log and found I did a massive jump in mileage from June and July probally why I got injured in the first place.

    2/01/2014

    2 x 1000s and 3 x 800s

    Conditions where really bad nearly got blown off track but stuck with it and got the session done. I didn't hit the targets but finished the session which is important to me.

    6.89k in 41:55 @ 6:05 pace

    AVG HR 169bpm
    MAx HR 199bpm

    As from my heart rate fitness is way off, should be back to normal after a month or so.

    4/01/2014

    4.92k @ 6.06min/k pace = 30.15

    AVG HR 170
    MAX HR 182

    Really wanted to just get some time on the legs here, parts of the town flooded at the local park and had a swan blocking my route as I ran closer the swan was not impressed with me, started to expand his wings so I elegantly did a u turn:o.

    11.14k LSR @ 6:20 min/k pace = 1:13:16

    Avg HR 161
    Max HR 180

    Longest run since I was injured not 100% happy with the run but just got it done, think a visit to Runways is due or would amphibian king be a better option never dealt with them before.

    I'd recommend Amphibian King over Runways. They have a track to run on and record your gait, which IMO, gives more accurate results than the treadmill in Runways.

    Is there a bus to get there as I don't drive?

    The one in Ashtown is very near the train station. You could get the train out from Connolly.

    Wedensday|Rest|
    Thursday| 7 x 800s|
    Friday|Rest

    Sunday| Lsr

    I didn't get out Tuesday due to a 15 hour shift:mad:, got caught in the wrong group on Thursday and boy did I feel it kept with the group for four off the seven 800s.

    Did about 8k for the lsr and it probably was the first time since the injury that I felt confident with myself. I'm just going to take it easy until June and slowly build up the lsr and see where I can take it from there.

    The club is having a graded race this Thursday 5k around the track is will be a good indication where I'm at, so with that in mind I did
    a bit of speed work yesterday

    1k = 4.44 pace
    2k = 4.57 pace
    3k = 6.12 recovery
    4k = 5.18 pace
    5k = 5.28 pace

    .24k cool down

    5.24k in 28.01 Avg pace 5.21k/min
    Avg HR 171
    Max HR 185

    Really happy with this session and looking forward to the race.

    January was a bad month for me got a lot done unfortunately not a lot of running

    Monday|Recovery Run
    Tuesday|5 Mile Steady Run
    Wednesday|Rest
    Thursday|3 x 1 Mile Repeats
    Friday|Rest
    Saturday|Rest
    Sunday|Long Run

    As the other half is doing night courses getting training with the club is not happening. I also ditched the insoles so far so good, I would really like to give the marathon a go this year but will be doing Hals plan not with the clubs.
