Got out at 6:30 for the long run today, I was meant to do a different plan but I just couldn't hold my threshold pace so was not going to force it and opted to do a easy run.

Will have one session next week on Tuesday 5 miles @ 8:20 pace, might do 4 miles on Thursday then rest for Clontarf Half on Saturday. Would like to get sub 1:50

    February|51.17
    March|95.25
    April|86.94
    May|67.53

Myself and FerrisB also off boards.ie internet fame :)
Don't worry, if you ask the wrong guy if he's meno, he won't be surpirsed. I don't think he knows my real name either :pac: All the pacers are off this forum.

@ ososlo, I should point out that pic is 5 years old and FerrisB has a similar hair colour :p.

Only got a small cycle done yesterday nothing major, all set for tomorrow gear ready and all. Didn't have the opportunity to collect my number so will have to get it on the day.

Thinking a lot about the race mostly about pace on the day plan, thinking of going at 8:20 pace for the first 5 miles then gradually speed up. At least if I cant hold the pace I can fall back on the pacers to keep me going. Tried last year going at 8 pace but backfired on me and ended up with a 1:59 time. It was a great improvement on my last time but feel a lot fitter now.

    Target time 1:50

    Clontarf Half Marathon

The start off the race day always the same little or no sleep, had the normal breakfast porridge with sunflower and pumpkin seeds washed down with orange juice and cup of tea.

The bus times where wrong so worried about getting there on time frantically on boards to see if someone could collect my number, thanks to Frash to could get just in case I didn't make much appreciated. Lucky enough made it thanks to bus driver went out of his way to help me.

Few:D made it on time got in line and got my number and just soaked up the atmosphere.

    Mile 1-6

It was a very warm day the sun always in my face glad I put on sun cream.
I was a bit away from the 1:50 pacers starting off couldn't get close as it was congested just kept my pace and passed people as the space became available.
The plan was to keep ahead of the 1:50 pacers. They where to far away so I was not going too blow out trying to catch them. The first water stop didn't see till the last min nearly stopped to get one.
The beach was hard to run on as the legs where coming from under neat me just kept my pace and carried on. Mentally I needed to pass the 1:50 pacers and eventually did around the 8k mark. Took a gel at half way point 10k split time 50:36.

    Mile 6- 13.1

At the half way mark the lead runners where coming back everyone was nursing there water not surprised with the heat, on the return to the beach clouds where dark for the life of me could go any faster, the heavens opened it was refreshing going against the wind. Struggled to open my second gel used my teeth and some shot across the path.

The last few km where tough but had enough to keep the pace the legs where tired screaming at me to stop, was even able to sprint to the finish.

    Old pb: 1:59:10
    New pb: 1:47:56

Absolutely delighted with this result, great race couldn't fault any part of it, I was not to impressed with people dumping the bottles on the road any one could have slipped on them.

Might target another half in two months time, with more training could go sub 1:45

Darren, that is just a fantastic time and pb on that course. Imagine what you could do on a 'normal' course. I was so worried about you getting your race number this morning I was delighted to read that it all worked out for you in the end.
You're setting yourself up nicely for a fantastic DCM. Well done and enjoy the evening full of pb delights:D

    Recovery Run

Got out early for this and dragged the other half out with me and let her dictate the pace, really needed to loosen the legs after the race yesterday.

    1.38 miles @ 11.47 avg pace

Went out tonight to the track to do a few laps, let the legs dictate the pace had to reduce the pace a few times. Just did 1 mile splits with a 2 min rest in-between. Very happy with my recovery so far after Clontarf.

    5.02 miles @ 8:52 pace

I was happy with Tuesday so decided to go ahead with the club session today but kept to the back of the group.

    2x5x300 75-80 with 60 sec interval + 400m jog between sets

Happy with the session kept to the back so I couldn't push myself hard.
Cycled up to the core class learned my core is rubbish.

    3.42 miles done

    1 hour core work

No long run for me tomorrow, I haven't being feeling to well so wont be doing anything till Im better, will be heading away Tuesday week so need to focus on getting better for that.

I wont be doing any running on hoidays just want to relax absorb the training so far. So could be two weeks away from running looking the the clubs plan I will have a easy week when I get back the 3 months off solid training when I get back.

Its probably not ideal but its better than being out with a injury.
