    Usually 80-100.

Pre drinking never saves me money, i just drink more. Whenever i Pre Drink, mess times are inevitable. I just get nicely drunk before i go out and spend the same and end up in a worse start usually not remembering the parts of the night.

Can't we end this madness now before someone gets hurt?

Well plenty of people pre-eat before their dinner, its called a starter ;)

The phrase pre-drinking makes perfect sense, it's drinking before drinking in the pub, or a "drinking starter" so to speak. How else would you put it.

I mean in the sense of having a snack at home before going to a restaurant, a starter is part of the overall meal. You're not pre-eating, you're just eating!

And what do you do with the starter? You eat it. Therefore you are already eating and the prefix 'pre' is being used incorrectly.

    Pre-pubbing would make more sense.

Pre-drinking would imply that the drinking has not started yet, but it has. Therefore it doesn't make perfect sense at all.

    Pre-pubbing does make more sense.

Im stubborn ......even though i agree its what i will always say, Pre Pubbing doesnt have a nice ring to it

I look at it differently. I see the "pre" part as referring to "before going out" rather than being linked to the work drinking.

Basically a shortened version of Pre(going out)-drinking. Its has a much nicer ring to it than pre-pubbing too as another poster said.

To be honest I don't use the phrase much at all myself but it does make sense to me.

    It's prone to mispronunciation alright.

"Pre-pubing? What sort of sick pervert are you?"

The fact that such a ridiculous phrase even exists just emphasises that a lot of people have drinking problems, and bad ones at that. The fact that the emphaisis is on the drinking and not on actually meeting up with friends or socialising is all rather sad and clearly highlights all that is wrong with the Irish culture right now.

I disagree, I dont pre drink (or pre pub) on my own, its all about the social aspect of meeting up for a few drinks under the illusion of saving money. I love having a few cans or shots before I head out. It happens once every 2-3 weeks so i wouldnt call it a problem for me anyway.

I think the misuse of the prefix 'pre' is of much graver concern.

about 120,but i never know how. i dont seem to drink much and dont drink spirits at all but it always ends up being over 120 quid.
does no one here buy drinks for their friends?
your calculations are all so exact.
doesnt seem to be any legislation for miscellaneous purchases.

There's your problem, right there. It doesn't work.
Without alcohol 'the craic' gets exposed pretty quickly for what it is. The same drunken stupid hollow shyte talk that went on the last time and the time before that etc...
With alcohol if course it's hilarious and a great night out

I don't know, my friends are pretty awesome like - I love to be around them when they're sober, so I can't see myself hating being around them too much when they're drunk and giddy tbh. I may be wrong though....

Ah thats where my down fall is, buying a shot for mates. We'd get into rounds of it and 1 round for 5 lads can be 25 quid to 35 depending on what you order.

One night i spent 250 though, swear i was handing money out to strangers in Burger King at the end or something.

Ah i have to say the lads (well most of them) will always get ya back. maybe not on that night but another night down the road.

Laser machines should be banned from bars... They are the devil when it comes to over spending

When I wake up in the morning I prefer to see the wallet empty than a few decent notes in it as notes mean the nights allocated money was spent and more taken out at some point during the night when the memory wasn't working.

There's out, and "Out". Personally, it varies between a half-gallon of porter of a Tuesday evening after the office (cost: €16.80) to a gin-and-ton-ton amuse-bouche followed by a gallon of porter of a Saturday evening (cost: ~€45). If we went to a half-decent restaurant you're looking at spending three or four hours making pigs of ourselves with as many courses as are on offer, plus a couple of bottles of whatever-is-decent. I have been known to drop as much as a couple of ton on those ones, but we don't do that as much as we used to, more's the pity. :D

Too bloody much. I went out last night for a few pints and spent 60 quid!

Its even worse when you bring out about 400 quid and its gone, then see the empty wallet in the morning, As you check your bank and see another €200 gone.

But they are the good nights :pac:

Exactly! It means you needed more cash to fuel the awesome night that is transpiring before your very beer goggled eyes.

Quite amazing how people on this thread almost proudly announce they spend around €50-€100 on a single night and many of these will be the same people on other AH threads saying nobody has any extra money in the till at the end of the week.

    "Weekend Millionaires"

Apparently, such people live off jam sandwiches, pasta and tomato sauce while scratching their arse on weekdays - and what they save they use to go largin' it at the weekend.

Some of you spend outrageous amounts! 10 cans of devils bit cider, €10-€12. If its a house party that'll be it, just walk home after nd cook some food there. If we walk into town and pay into a club and get food after it might stretch to €20. I rarely ever buy drinks in clubs or bars and neither do most of the people I go out with. Just get hammered before leaving the house and you're sorted.

Although I'm glad most of you are still spending €60 - €100 on a night out or else all the bars and clubs would probably be closed!

If it weren't for taxis id probably only spend 40ish but taxis can double that on occasions.

Your paying way too much for your urine sir!

Surely you'd shell out a few more bucks for a decent cider and not purchase Devils Bit : The Homeless Mans choice!

That just wouldn't work for me, no matter how hammered I was going into a club I'd be straight up to the bar the second I was in the door and continue on drinking from there. I couldn't be without a drink in my hand.

I could pay more for bulmers but in reality they are of the same quality and I like the taste of devils bit just as much.

Sometimes if I'm just having one or two a buy nice bottles of craft cider or beer but you couldn't be getting drunk off that stuff, it'd cost you a fortune.
