I have one of these myself, almost considering buying this one too and making a good car from the two.
They aren't a bad car. I had one years ago. never gave an ounce of trouble, Weak around the doors though, the body cracked around the door hinges :eek:but was soon sorted with a few spots of weld:D

They're a good little car. I was driving my one for a sew weeks until I came across my Golf, its been sitting along in the shed now with the cylinder head in the boot for about a month now.

i spun my 106 doing around 70mph, flew through around 10 meters of fence, a few concrete fence posts and finally stopped when it hit a tree (which stopped the car entering water) back when i was young and frankly a fool. pretty robust little thing God love it, i walked away by the grace of God. Cant even look at a 106 now, nor that stretch of road until recently.

Ya what? ****ing hell that sounds mental!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,916 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

it was. that said it taught me such a lesson. it showed me how i could have been killed in a flash but it chose not to and i've had such an appreciation for it ever since. not to mention the shame, cars drove by and nobody helped, the gards came and in fairness were very sound and didn't prosecute me/ give me points etc and helped me home. telling the parents, they flipped. the cost of garda recovery, losing the value of the car, losing friends for nearly killing them. all for showing off to some quare wan who i was mad into at the time but now i look back on it i wonder what i was thinking. and that wasn't the only car i wrote off.

i used to be a true boy racer but now i just drive a glanza :pac:.

anyway, back to bangers i suppose :P

I did t want to mention the Glanza. :p
Part of me is glad I couldn't drive when I was 18 (and single).

nice bit of poke for the money! you wouldn't get a b16 civic for that kind of price. are you back on the road yet? still got the mx?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,728 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

An EK4 probably wouldn't keep up either!
Yeah, in my dad's Megane... I hate it. D:
The MX in sitting in the garden, waiting for a new home, but first a log book

You still selling the Glanza or did you decide to keep it, I really wanted that car!

And what does "great pull in vvl" mean? I know, if you have to ask you don't really want to know...

Probably not on a straight road. In the twisty bits though a civic would absolutely destroy a pulsar.

They're quick man, you been in one?
An EK4 is down on power too, by about 10bhp.

Edit: yeah the log book **** annoys me too. The VVL is the sane as VTEC, well similar.

I've been in both. The civic is far more sure footed going in and out of bends I found. The vzr n1 has the most powerful 1.6 n/a engine of it's time afaik though.

Defo an Irish almera with an engine conversion. The lack of passenger airbag gives the game away.

Someone went to a good bit of effort so as it has the bumpers, skirts, headlights, tail-lights & boot door from a Pulsar.

    Ringer perhaps?

ad says - New clutch, flywheel and t belt kit April 2013, 5 very good tyres car drives perfect. half an hours tax left on it.

asuming no nct and needs a rear window replacing. if it went through the NCT fairly handy and you put a nice set of original ford alloys on it and gave it a serious clean it could be a nice car with a good bit of life left in it for not much money. probably have it NCT'd and taxed with a little change from 800

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ford-fiesta-must-go-this-week-700-ono-/5547488

similarly with this. if you haggle hard and spend wisely it could probably be put back on the road for under €1k. the 1600 "might" be a bit of fun to drive. remove the lexus lights and weird badges on the rear and pray that there's no rust.

I had one of those Mondeos, 2002 diesel estate with 260k and it was a lovely bus. Went on the smell of diesel!

I'd take the claim of new clutch, flywheel etc with a pinch of salt because its a rather expensive job to do.

    Also,

Is that a dent in the back door or reflection?

    And my humble offering,
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ford-escort-ghia-estate/5859768

Could potentially be a decent car if it didn't need much other than a clutch. I like the look of these.

    go on, one more...

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-corolla-195bhp-t-sport/5816488

seems to good to be true. next cheapest one is nearly double that price. lots of car for the money if a little rough.

edit : re the mondeo, i thought that might be a gash in the door alright, but sure, 400 quid like. probably get a scrapyard door for less than 50.

i always wanted one of those late model escorts in ghia trim. an extremely bland car but something i always kind of wanted.

Christ, thats quite something. I'm not too sure what'd I do with 27 cars though, I'd say I'd be able to fit about 10 into my garage before it starts to get a bit tight for space.

it could be a legit add. its cheap but somewhat fair considering its creeping up on 200k miles, no tax or test.

they are prone to some sort of problem with cam lift bolts or something though so maybe that's it. apparently it's a cheap ish fix though.

    i would.

We were grand when it was about 18 vehicles (exhibit a).... They've taken over a lot of the garden now though :(

Often worth more to break if there's enough interest, though also a good sign that something's about to go.
